I absolutely love this place!! My husband does as well. I hadn't been anywhere like this since the Mongolian place on Market Street years ago. As soon as I found out about Chao's. I had to go. Hubby wasn't sure at first. After his 1st trip. He was in love as well. You're greeted immediately no matter how busy they are. The food is amazing. The cooks are amazing. The waitresses are amazing. It flows smoothly and if you aren't sure what to do. They love explaining it to you. You walk in, seated & ask what you'd like to drink & if you'd like soup or salad. The soup is broth & absolutely delish! You go on up to the bar area, grab a silver bowl (after putting on a sanitary glove) and begin filling your bowl with meats, seasonings, veggies, spices & in a separate small dish at the end. You add whatever sauce you'd like. You then turn the bowl in, you're ask which starch you want. "Noodles, fried rice, white rice, etc). They give you a # to place on the table so the waitress knows where to bring your food. They have soy sauce and Yum Yum sauce on the table. They're very attentive to you and make sure to keep your glass filled.
Here are just some suggestions. I know it's tempting to load the bowl down ๐ but let me tell you now!!! The silver bowl size is NOT what you'll be brought. The end result is a massive bowl๐. My silver bowl is ALWAYS overflowing by the time it gets to the cook ๐
The sweet tea is on point!!! Highly recommended! The Yum Yum sauce or white sauce as some call it. Muah...
ย ย ย Read moreWent to Chao's Mongolian Grill for lunch today with a craving for Korean food, and they did not disappoint! I'm not usually one for super adventurous dining, but their menu had some great-sounding options. I ended up trying three dishes: the ja jang myun, the tang su yuk, and the kan poong ki. The ja jang myun was fantastic โ thick, black bean noodles with a rich, savory sauce that hit the spot. It felt perfect for a cooler day. The tang su yuk blew me away โ crispy pork belly with a sweet and tangy sauce that was both delicious and visually appealing. Finally, the kan poong ki offered a nice kick of spice โ shredded chicken with scallions in a flavorful sauce โ a great way to round out the meal. Each dish had its own unique flavor profile, and the portions were generous! I left feeling satisfied and happy with my choices. Overall, Chao's Mongolian Grill gets a full 5 stars from this satisfied customer. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was casual and inviting, and the menu offered a great variety of Korean dishes to explore. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a flavorful and...
ย ย ย Read moreThe food was delicious. The service was pretty good. Figuring out what I was supposed to do was a little confusing, but everyone was kind about my ignorance.
You wait to be seated, have your drink order taken, then go to the end of the bar farthest from the door. You get one bowl and pile meat, veggies, and seasonings into it. You get a ramekin of sauce toward the end of the bar to be used for cooking your meat and veggies. After that you place the bowl and ramekin together on the counter closest to the register, tell them if you want udon noodles or rice, and take your number back to your table.
The wait wasn't terrible and I was part of a party of seven, one of which was a one year old who didn't eat. The price for six meals with drinks was about $100. I can't remember if gratuity was added. I added a tip, anyway.
If you don't like iceberg lettuce, do not get the ginger salad. It is only...
