Let me start with saying Amigos is actually our favorite restaurant. Just.. not this location. East Ridge is top tier. Unfortunately, this one is much closer to our work so we come about once a month. And it's honestly disappointing nearly every time. Nothing is consistent. The salsa either taste like tomato paste or pure cumin. The chips usually taste like old grease. When we come to this location, I stick with 2 dishes that are least likely to be screwed up.. the steak burrito or pollo loco. But even with those, it's common to lack seasoning on the meat or the meat will be fatty or crunchy. You literally never know what you're going to get. I decided with the last 2 times being disappointing, I'd try something different and got chicken nachos. This was the worst dish out of all of them lol. First off, the menu says "tortilla chips covered in queso sauce" and that's far from what you get. There is no "sauce" lol. It's a very little amount of shredded queso cheese and a 1oz cup of queso "sauce" to.. dip in, I'm guessing? With an entire bowl of salsa, a side of sour cream, and whatever excuse for the queso they brought, half my chips were dry. Everyone knows nachos get soggy.. an hour later and these things were still standing at attention lol. I left nearly the whole plate and the waiter was like "you need a box?" I said "no, these are quite disappointing, but thank you" and he just nodded and took the plate lol. When I tell you the East Ridge location is less than 10 minutes away and soooo much better.. it's a whole new world, honestly. The steak is seasoned and flavorful. The food is fresh and more than enough. You get an actual plate of nachos COVERED in liquid queso. And it's the exact same price. Same menu. There's a reason that one has a line and this one, you walk in and...
Read moreI’ll start with this, my wife and I have been coming here since we got married and moved to this part of town, 11 years ago. Minimum of once a week. I’m actually sitting here right now.
Figured the least I could do for the world is tell them what they are missing if they have not stepped across the threshold of a truly surreal dining experience.
Let’s start with the vibes, in a word, top tier. Festive atmosphere, great decorations, the best curated mix of Mexican music. TVs playing only what you would want to be watching , soccer or Mexican soap operas … iykyk.
Next, and second most important factor when choosing a dining experience, the food. Chefs kiss baby. Soggy tacos have been going down my gullet at an incredible rate ever since they came on the new cantina menu a couple years ago. But there are plenty of other great classics to choose from and we have literally never had anything we didn’t love here.
Lastly but definitely most important, the service. These people are amazing. I have come to think of them as friends and I think they feel the same way since they warmly greet me “Hey Amigo” every time I cross in to paradise. I even went to Poppi’s kids graduation… well not really but I like to think he would have wanted me there.
All in all, the place is fire. If you are lucky enough to have Emmanuel as your server tell him I said hey, and expect the best service ever cause...
Read moreMy family and I haven been going to this Amigos Brainerd location for years, but we haven’t been in a long time. So we decided to go back to eat there for a midweek Mexican meal. We went last night and first thing we noticed was that the prices on the menu have doubled. The service was very slow and needs improvement. My dad and I ordered a half order of grilled chicken nachos, which to our knowledge used to be on a circular plate that had the chips covered in cheese sauce with toppings, but now it’s served on a small silver tray that was appetizer size. There was not enough cheese on the nachos so the chips were dry and we had to get two extra cheese dips to (which costs $6.00 EACH) just to have enough cheese on our nachos. Dad and I also barely had any chicken on our CHICKEN nachos that we ordered. Another issue I had was that I went to the women’s restroom and saw a dead cockroach on the light in the ceiling (how disgusting🤢🤮) which I hoped and prayed they don’t have live cockroaches in their kitchen (a little concerning)🫠 not sure if we will ever be back because we were so disappointed in what used to be one of our favorite...
