Fourth review: loud, short line but long wait for food. If you like it hot and spicing Edley has ‘it’ for you. If you want something that taste like the food it is, try elsewhere. Wish they had not spicy sides. Tables sit needing to be bused. The bar is hoping so I guess we know where the margins are. Waitstaff drags the trash can around the dinning Room to clean the tables. She must not make much Or the team is not incentives as she does not appear to be motivated. Third review. Every item has the same heat and flavor therefore it doesn’t matter what you order. The fat content in the pork plate continues to be too high. Why tip if no service. Continues as a 2star experience for me. You may prefer heat only, heavy fat and poor service. Update from a month ago: May) corn bread is a giant brick on the plate. It is again dry and still spicy. Wish they had a non Spivey choice of bread as some of he sides have a kick and the bread could be a good balance. The real change is the ratio of meet to fat in the park plate. Yes I know bbq is not health food but check it the picture of fat and cornbread. The small portion of meat was tasty but even it had been soaking in “drippings to keep it moist” and slide down easily. The collard greens are among the best in Chatt but the portion is a tiny cup. For $13 the plate, I had way too much fat. No one came to my table except to hand me a plate after eating in line to order, and yet I was invited to add a tip at the time of ordering. I seldom tip ahead of time, it defeats the practice behind tipping. Never he less plenty of staff standing around but no one checking on tables. Drinks are self serve. The dirty rag and cleaning bucket were next to my table, maybe I’m suppose to buss my own table too, all the more question about tipping. I will try Edley again but my exceptions will be high. I am impressed they use very high quality paper towels on the table. Great for soaking up all the grease! April: It’s a very good choice for BBQ. The meats are good. Good basic sauce. Sides are fried or spicy. Good bar area. Indoor and outdoor seating. Traditional order at the counter and food is delivered to your table. Music was loud. Service is good because they have many staff persons working. Cornbread is tasty but portion was a small brick. Would have been happy with half as much bread and 10% more meat. Many fresh tastes. Will visit again.

This is now my favorite bbq place in Chattanooga. We decided to visit due to it being next to one my my favorite coffee shops in town, and we were greatly pleased. The price is what you expect from a bbq place. Around 10 bucks for a plate. The atmosphere is nice and what I really like is the fact that it is truly kid friendly. They have an outside seating area that has several play things for the kids. I have attached pictures to show what they have in their outdoor seating area .It’s a parents dream. also, for a weekend day, it was not overly crowded and busy, so we were able to get in and out fairly quick. Quick tip: When you walk in, it feels as if you must wait to be seated, but actually, you go to the counter to order and seat yourself. Also, very small bathrooms that only accommodate one person at a time. The food was great. The pork is tender and flavorful. The collards were amazing, but the beans, oh my goodness, they are the best baked beans I have ever had! The only thing I didn’t care for was the cornbread. I am not a sweet cornbread fan, but to each their own. At the end of the day, please give it a shot, it is well worth the visit. And don’t forget to get the baked beans!!

TL;DR - I felt like for what we paid, Edley's left us wanting more for our money. We paid nearly $70 for two people, and while the food was really good, it definitely didn't feel like a lot of food. I got the Tri-Star Platter, which I admit was one of the more expensive things on the menu. It comes with pulled chicken, pork, and sliced brisket along with two sides. Everything on the platter was really good and the meats had some really good smoked flavor. The sides were also really good but the portions were really small, especially the Mac & Cheese which was a dollar up-charge. My partner got the smoked wings, which were also really good and had great flavor, but again the sides were tiny considering what we paid. I think that they are probably justified in charging as much as they do considering the location and the quality of the food, but personally I thought that the price was too high for someone like me who lives in Chattanooga and just wants some barbecue. Even Mission BBQ, which I think is expensive, has larger sides at a lower cost, and that's going to keep me coming compared to paying a small fortune for a relatively tiny cup of Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad.

I can't figure out how this place stays in business. I just moved here about 4 months ago and I'm trying to find a good BBQ place. I loved the idea of this place as the menu is nice and varied. But My God the place itself is a mess.

I've been here about 8 times (all for carryout), I really wanted to give it a chance. But here's my experience: two times they were out of Ribs, Brisket. One time the manager comes out and says he's out of all the meat except for catfish?? One time I just had to sit there and wait forever to get any service at the carryout counter. While my food was just sitting there ready and getting cold. Twice the ribs were some kind of weird piece of meat with tiny pinky like bones. I asked someone what was up with that and he said next time to let him know and he'd make it good. I don't want to have to let anyone know, get it right. Several times the orders were screwed up and/or packaged badly so they ended up all over the place. One time the person packaging was so stupid they put the sides, in their individual containers, inside the container with the meat so it couldn't be closed properly. Naturally everything ended up a mess. I think 2 times I had an ok experience. Food was right, order was right, etc. The kind of experience that should be normal. So 2 out of 8 times, 25% of the time you can have an ok meal.

I don't understand why this is ok? Not sure why the owner/management isn't embarrassed but I'm embarrassed for spending my money here. At some point you feel like a sucker, no more.

Edit: Just wanted to say I responded to the "response from owner" I received and heard zip back. I think they've just paid some service to make it look like they're doing something or care. ...

I’m usually not displeased by BBQ anywhere in the state. This is one of the places in the country where people do BBQ right, no matter what twist you learn to put on your recipe. However, I’ve given this restaurant four visits since it’s opened, and none of them have been even on-par with local competitors. Our first visit was later in the evening, so I though little of them being out of several items. Coming from food service, I understand that you can’t have unlimited amounts of every item and it still be fresh. So no worries there. The next two visits were very similar, always out of one thing or the other, but the other items they suggested instead were decent. Definitely no secret family recipes, and I’m sure the operation involves lots of generic Sysco ordering, but I was encouraged to try again for the things I was still longing to try. Today though, I went at 5pm (dinner time) on a Friday. They are out of things, AGAIN, and quoted me a 35 minute wait time if I wanted Mac n cheese, and made sure to blame day shift for the issue. I again made substitutions to my ticket, take my plate to go, and as soon as I get to the car and take a bite cause I was so hungry, I immediately realize the even my pulled pork was entirely cold. Not warm, but like you can feel the grit and squish of the cold oils and fats of the meat as if it just came from the fridge. When I walk in to ask for a refund and return my plate, the manager then even encourages me to let them keep my $3 tip that they, by default, add to my ticket. I’m so frustrated by this place and encourage everyone to skip this lackluster,...
