Krystal — Restaurant in Chattanooga

We went in and visited the crystal today on 1-8-24 around 2:30 pm. When we stood in line trying to get our order took a girl came in and was trying to get clocked in but she was on her telephone she stayed on her phone and then when she started to take her order she just laid the phone down. My sister proceeded to tell them that she wanted for crystals with no onions cooked without the onions because y'all's type of onions make her sick. We also ordered another number one without onions and then I ordered for Crystal cheese with no the manager came out and told my sister that she could not cook her fresh crystals without the onions on it because she would have to clean the whole grill my sister said no I just don't want any onions on my burgers I just would like fresh burgers then the manager proceeded to tell her that if she cooked it like that they would burnt. The manager said she would have to clean the grill completely down like they do at night and she wasn't going to do that. My sister told her that she understood please just cook her four fresh burgers with no them. when we got our order everybody else's was in there but mine I went back up there and told them that they had left my order out and I took my receipt when they gave me my four burgers that was supposed to be just cheese and mustard it had onions on them I mean onions on them. So I just didn't eat them. Why my sister was trying to pay for the order they ran her card like four times and just kept on telling her she needed to run her card again. Google's listing of business hours is wrong, at least for now. As it stands, Krystal at 4868 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN, (at the Cloverdale Drive intersection, just across the street from Stuart Heights Baptist Church) is open until midnight. Google lists their hours as being open until 02:00 AM. I went through the drive-thru at the Hixson Pike Krystal just after midnight Wednesday night and was told by the girl on the intercom that unless I was there to pick up one of two phone orders, they were closed, that they closed at midnight.

As for the food, they're the best in the business at what they do, which is steamed mini-burgers (Krystals), Krystal Chicks, Krystal Chili, Krystal Pups and Chili Cheese Pups hot dogs, french fries, and other items (see Krystal's menu for the full selection).

My only beef is that they tend to put way too much mayo on their Krystal Chicks, so I order mine with no mayo, which means a chicken breast filet and a hamburger dill chip pickle on a Krystal bun. The other option is to scrape or scoop off the excess mayo, unless you really, really like mayo.

Their chili is really good, especially on a cold winter day, and with a Krystal or Krystal Chick on the side, "soup and sandwich" style. The chili is served with oyster crackers.

Of course there's nothing quite like an original Krystal burger, or a Krystal with cheese.

Last but not least--and oft overlooked--are their Krystal Pup and Chili Cheese Pup hot dogs, which are all-beef miniature hot dogs, in keeping with the mini burger theme.

First off, let me say that it has probably been at least 2 years since I've eaten at this same Krystals just because the last time was awful as well. I figured with it being so long since I've been there that maybe it had gotten better, but I was wrong. I went through the drive-thru for a late lunch. There were only 4 cars in the parking lot and 1 car in front of me in the drive-thru. I turned on my timer on my phone, and 6 minutes later, I was finally able to order. I only ordered 2 regular Krystals with cheese to hold me over til dinner. After I pulled up to the window, I only seen 2 employees 1 cook and 1 cashier it took another 8 minutes for the girl to finally take my payment not to mention they pulled the 1 car that was in front of me up I guess so it wouldn't affect their timers. The girl finally took that car their 1 bag of food after she took my payment, and then 3 or 4 minutes later, I received my food. I pulled off, opened my bag, and got a Krystal out, and the bottom bun was so soggy and sopping wet with grease that it flopped over and was hanging about to break in half. So I put it back in the bag and got the 2nd Krystal out, and sure enough, it was the same way. It was so disgusting and gross I had to just throw it away.
