Several months ago, I mistakenly sent a complaint to Texas Roadhouse in Hixson instead of the actual restaurant we had take out from. I told them I had a problem with my tacos and the Texas Roadhouse owner, Axl, called to talk to me. I had already figured out my mistake, so when he called, I kept apologizing. Low and behold, instead of just listening to me and accepting my apology for the crazy mistake I made, he actually asked me to try Texas Roadhouse sometime and he promised they would serve excellent food and provide top notch service. He was right. So we decided to see if he really could hold up his promise. So I called and told him who I was, ordered and it was probably THE BEST TAKE OUT WE HAD EVER EATEN (my hubby and I). I NEVER thought we could order a steak and it be any good by the time we got it home, but IT WAS PHENOMENAL. It was a larger than expected cut of ribeye, cooked perfectly with such a juicy and velvet texture...AND IT WAS HOT! My hubby ordered a baked potato and salad as his sides. The one thing we really like is they put things on the side instead of on the actual potato. That way, he could put the amount of butter and sour cream on it to his satisfaction. I got the chicken fried chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy and a side salad as well. The entire meal wad amazing...NOTE: the salad was so good and there was a lot more than I expected. Plus, you get cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, egg, etc. and the croutons taste homemade...OH and you get extra dressing without being charged for it.
To make sure this wasn't just because we ordered directly from Axl the first time, we have since tried them twice more. The steak was cooked perfectly, it was nice and hot and BIGGER THAN EXPECTED! He got a yummy, large baked potato as well. And since I'm a creature of habit, I ordered the chicken fried chicken again, and it too was ALL PERFECTLY COOKED, PACKAGED AND STILL WARM. Oh and did I also mention they serve THE BEST rolls with creamy butter and/or cinnamon butter. I mean, you can't go wrong with anything. And the food was all packaged neatly, still warm and larger portions than most other restaurants offer. The online ordering is easy and self explanatory, pick up was fast and easy (you just respond HERE to their text and someone brings it right to car), and best of all, the food is warm and exceptional. So Axl, you did follow through with your promise that we would get excellent food and service if we would just give you a chance. So whenever we want a good steak, chicken, etc. to go, we will MOST DEFINITELY choose Texas Roadhouse IN HIXSON!! Thanks Axl...
Read moreAs always, there was a wait. No problem. However, they took my cellphone number down in order to text me when our table was ready. Since it was going to be around an hour and 15 minutes, we were going to walk across the parking lot to Ollie's and look around. But I didn't receive the initial confirmation text. So I went to the hostess to make sure they had my correct number. They did. She said not to worry about the initial text, that we would get the text for our table. So we went ahead and went to Ollie's. We came back about 30 minutes later, and I checked in. We still had about 20 minutes per the hostess. 25 minutes later, another hostess called out our name. Our table was ready. Yet we didn't get a text. Good thing we didn't rely on that text and the hostess! Sat down and immediately our waiter came and took our drink order. We ordered our appetizer as well at this point. I told him that I had an email with a free appetizer. I pulled it up, and he took a picture of the email. Our drinks and appetizers came out pretty quickly. But our entrées took a very, very long time. The manager, as well as our waiter, came by to tell us it shouldn't be much longer. Yet it was. No apologies for the long wait. After about 35 minutes, we get our entrees. I ordered my steak medium, which, based on their description, is a small line pink center. My steak, as you can see in the picture, was burnt to a crisp. I asked the waiter to please take it back and get them to give me a new one. He apologized for the issue and took it back. I sat there and watched my husband finish his dinner completely. The waiter came back about 15 minutes later and said it should be about 5 or 10 minutes more. So I asked him if he would just put it in a to go box. About 10 minutes later, the manager came with my to go box and said she was sorry. But no offers to make it right. I pulled up our check on the little device to pay our bill. Guess what? My free appetizer was there charging us $7.99. So once again, we had to wait about 10 more minutes for them to correct that issue. I have to say, this is our third time there, and we have had some sort of issue all three times. I kept hoping it was just a bad timing or something out of their control. But three times tells me otherwise. As the saying goes, 3 strikes and you're out! This was definitely...
Read moreTexas Roadhouse has been somewhat of a tradition for our family on Veterans Day, we usually go as a family. 5 of us are veterans but other family members would join us. The last two years my husband and I have gone to the Hixson location due to our schedule, they are 0-2. Last year, I ordered the chop steak medium well with mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. I was served a burned black piece of charcoal and a bowl full of white gravy sprinkled with potatoes. The server never returned so my husband flagged him down. He literally said, “Oh really” and laughed about it. We hear the manager thank the gentleman behind us for his service and offer him the coupon for his next free meal. Before we leave we ask the server if we can get the coupon, he says we can purchase a gift card. Thinking he’s new and not understanding that they have given these to vets every year we ask for the manager who just gave it to the couple behind us. He also proceeds to tell us that we can purchase a gift card to support veterans, we tell him we’re veterans and we’re inquiring about the one they give us each year, the one he just gave the other table. He told us to buy a gift card. This Year- The girl who sat us puts her entire hand over the bread basket, not sure why she didn’t grab the side. But she gets the butter on her hand and then wipes the butter from her hand on the side of the basket. But our server McKenzie was really sweet. We would have normally ordered Diet Coke or water to drink. She was pretty persistent that we could get ANY drink on the menu for free and told us how the guy behind us was drinking free beer. I asked several times to be clear and told her which fruity drink I would get. She said, yes it would be free. We were like, “THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT A VETERAN!” and was going to share it on social media. Needless to say, we received a bill for $30 and the manager was nonchalant about it. She said she can’t take it off but could give us a free meal coupon. The one we normally get anyway? Great, thanks. It’s not about the money, it’s about the business making us spend it with them on a day they said they were celebrating us. If McKenzie has been told veterans get free drinks and offering everyone free drinks, then we are all made to pay for them, imagine how much they made off of us on...
