LOVE going here...somewhere where there are NO BIG Screen televisions and No Eardrum-Killing, Mind-Numbing Hard Rock "music" (if you can call it music) pulsing in the background, distracting from meaningful conversation! We thoroughly enjoyed very tasty, healthy food & the kindness of the people who served us (kindness goes a long way with our family).
While I will not be joining the communal living group, I do appreciate SOME of what these folks stand for in today's world. When "personal revelation" claimed by a man is placed above Jesus Christ, there is cause for concern. Most of the time, we experience great service. Tonight, October 31st, the service was bad except for the kind check-out lady. Maybe the new folks were on the job. Orders were wrong, no re-fills, lack of silverware, and zero straws for the smoothies were just some obvious oversights. We were very disappointed that the lady who waited our table seemed to want to rush us in and out...and that the young man delivering our food kept taking it to other people (I hope this commune does not promote substances on their private, non-working time). Folks seemed tired and reluctant to be service-oriented. If the food wasn't so good, I'd probably take a long hiatus from eating here. We will be taking a break but we will give this clean, unusual, mostly nice place another go again before the end of 2023.
I understood the gentleman who spoke to us that this group believes they are living as the expanding church we read about in Acts from God's Word. They believe they are the True Spiritual Israel. They may believe this, but this would never take away their Great Need of a Mighty Savior, Jesus Christ, The Messiah!
One cannot be "better" than the original Israel. ALL have sinned. ALL have fallen short of The Glory of God.
If Salvation were a gift of works, spiritual or otherwise, we could boast! Heaven forbid!
Only Jesus Christ makes us right with God throughHis Completed Work at the cross, His bearing of our sins, His death, His resurrection (becausethere is no grave which could ever hold our life-giving Savior in its clutches! Jesus is Victorious!
We can claim no righteousness on our own - only righteousness won through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Having stated Truth, I will lovingly admit/freely admit that these people are both polite and mannerly (something missing from most American businesses these days). Their service with a smile is first-rate!!!
I do appreciate their desire to honor God (though it is mis-guided), and it is my hope these folks know or soon come to know Jesus Christ in His Fullness as revealed in Scripture.
The Truth Matters.
AS FAR AS THE FOOD and ATMOSPHERE? We were impressed!!!
These folks serve the most delightful salmon sandwiches, and their cream cheese pie is pretty much "heaven" on a dessert plate!
By the end of our evening meal, we were invited to a Friday night gathering. We thanked the folks who invited us and invited one of them who spent a great deal of time speaking with us to our home Bible Study. We'll see!
It is wonderful to be treated as a valued human being. It is so lovely to enjoy a meal without multiple sources of never-ending entertainment, blaring in your ears and flashing in your face. Thank you for bringing dignity back to the restaurant businesses! We do...
Read morethe food is pretty good, but that in NO WAY shape or form makes up for the ABYSMAL service that the yellow deli has to offer. On multiple occasions myself (white) and my partner (black) have ventured here for a delicious meal and have found our service to be below par with what even bad service would be. i’ve eaten at understaffed restaurants before. what usually happens in those scenarios is EVERY table in a section suffers. What happens at this location, is any table that has any person of color is served absolutely last and seated in the way way back. Out of sight, out of mind perhaps? I have been on multiple occasions throughout my life as a chattanooga native with other white people and have NEVER had this issue before. Employees refuse to smile back when we greet them with smiles and hellos. Our server on this particular occasion (which was the catalyst honestly) waited until the moment she would’ve brought the bill and said that they decided to comp it because she forgot to put our order in and then when she realized her mistake she expedited it in the kitchen. As much as i would love to believe this story, a couple things don’t line up for me. For starters, would you not explain this to your table the MOMENT you realized? If it truly wasn’t her fault like she claimed, then surely owning up the mistake in the moment wouldn’t be that big of a deal, right? Wrong. She waited until I can only assume she overheard my fiance and i talking about how we were planning to speak to management about our time. When we finally did speak to a manager, his reaction was sub par at best. As a white person myself, if and when I would ever be accused of racism, I take it upon myself to listen to the person I’ve wronged. I take ownership of my actions and offer any apologies or ways that i can make up the mistake and improve going forward. Upon speaking to this man, he swore up and down that he and his employees were not racist and that our experiences and literally other peoples experiences under these reviews was being “made up” “dramatized” and even “falsified”. He asked “well have you ever worked in a restaurant” and you know what? We both have. My fiance does currently actually. Never in either of our times of working in a restaurant have we ignored people because of their skin color or presumed sexuality. When our server asked if our ticket was together or separate and we responded together, she scrunched up her face and rolled her eyes before proceeding with taking our order, which we then did not receive until after a party of four to our left who arrived after us had received both their drinks and food. Upon that party of four receiving their food (and drinks) we then received our drinks. No food. We then waited probably 20 minutes more before our food arrived. No mention of the mix up in the kitchen. Does anybody else see any problems with this? The staff is gaslighting my fiance and i, as well as other people I’m seeing in the reviews. it’s so disheartening because as i said earlier, the food is delicious, they’re open 23/5 so as a college student it’s a good place to eat well and study without...

5 stars for service, atmosphere, and food. This is my favorite place to eat in Chattanooga they know how to make you feel like family, feed you amazing food from the earth , and have a decor that puts all other places you’ve ever been to shame! My wife ate this place the night she went into labor just to feed our daughter one last amazing meal before coming into this world and I believe his name is TallMe or TallMead is a amazing human and such a welcoming soul.
I ALWAYS get the deli rose light sauce and no tomato and it is so hot, flavorful, and robust in the flavor profile I always wish I had ordered a second! Then I order a mango mate (Yerba mate but mango) with a lemon slice which gives me antioxidants, caffeine and nutrients essential to my vessel and leaves me feeling refreshed and honestly once again wishing I ordered two!
My wife ALWAYS gets the country ranch and it gets messy but soooooo worth it! (I always beg for a bite or two) and she gets a lemon lime Yerba mate which is amazing in its own right!
If you are looking for a dessert do the sweet potato pound cake it’s worth the $8.50 and is so moist you’ll wonder why you haven’t tried it in your life before that moment. (You get a whole loaf!!!!)
People try to downplay or divert people from eating here but the taste, decor, and atmosphere is on a different level and if you avoid this place you are missing out!
I’ve traveled America and this is within my top 5 best places taking the second to first place spot hands down!
When you give it a try leave a comment and let me know what your experience was and how much you...
