Ok let me start off by saying we are regulars and go to this establishment all the time but last night was definitely our last night going, here’s why... My group and I(there were 3 of us) went to BA for the St. Patrick’s Day block party, we went inside to the bar to get drinks it took about 30 mins because it was packed and they were slow so we finally got our drinks and went outside to enjoy the music. We drank our beers and wanted another but we were not going back inside because we couldn’t even get to the bar so we went to the little store across the street(Kanku’s) we each got a beer and walked outside we went over next to Barley on the sidewalk near the road and were taking pics then this skinny blonde lady who works at BA came up to us and literally snatched the beers from our hands and said with an attitude “You didn’t buy these here so you can’t have them.” We couldn’t react because it happened so fast so I yelled at her as she was walking away and said “well are you going to give our money back for the beers since we had full ones and you took them?” She just looked at me and kept walking. She doesn’t own that street nor does she own BA or work for the police department or the city of Chattanooga. Therefore she had no right to do what she did because we weren’t even standing in front of BA. There was a homeless man next to us on the street drinking a beer that someone bought him she didn’t take his beer or anyone else’s for that matter. There were atleast over 100 people drinking beer from the store and didn’t buy it at BA. What does it matter where I bought it? We came into your establishment and spent money prior to buying beer at the store. So we went next door to Barley to use the bathrooms and we sat in there with our beers we didn’t buy from Barley and they didn’t say anything to us. That blonde girl from BA has gotten an attitude before and she’s very rude! I hope a manager reads this and responds back because we will not be coming back to your establishment because of how we were treated last night!
P.S. Would have been nice to have signs posted or someone who worked there telling you, you can’t buy beer from somewhere else and drink it on the street. Which we didn’t even drink it in front of BA but that blonde girl seems to think she owns the...
Read moreAye, where to begin. We came here, four of us, based on the reviews. If you had me sum up my experiences, I would tell you that what is served here is bar food in a hip environment. The wait staff were Very friendly, but were, in general, inattentive, and lacking attention to detail.
So I ordered "The Veggie Option", which is a sandwich of hummus, cucumber, feta, spinach, sprouts, tomato, on grilled sourdough. I wish I would have taken a picture. In my mind, I had this very fresh, garden sandwich with crispy veggies. In reality, I had a flat, pressed sandwich, that was, relatively tasteless. I had ordered a side of brussels sprouts, but instead was served the potatoes, which were room temp, and looked like, and tasted like, something that you would pick up from the frozen food section of a grocery store.
One daughter had the french toast, which was not appealing to look at, at all, on the plate. It tasted ok, so that is something. The other had "The Arnold". It was underwhelming. Re the eggs (which were overcooked terribly), they were not high grade, they had very light yellow, tasteless, yolks. If you have ever had a fresh, locally raised egg, it should be dark orange and tasteful. Not here.
Truly, if you are a foodie, this is not the place for you. This is a place to come and hang out with friends, and it could serve that purpose well. But please, do not come here for the food.
Regarding service, our server was quite nice when we spoke with her. But it's the little things. Coffee mug ran dry, and I had to ask for a refill. I got the wrong side (potatoes), and had to ask for the correct one. My kiddo ordered a side of fruit, and it never arrived.
Know what you are coming here for, and it is fine. Just don't let it be the food.
Side note: I'm really not sure how others are saying that the food is...
Read moreReally wanted to give this joint 5 stars when I walked in.. but I couldnt even give 4. Don't get me wrong.. The service was great, friendly, and prompt. Food came out quickly. That said, I have a few pet peeves when it comes to food.. number one on my list: not salting french fries. I mean- NONE OF THEM had salt. The pad thai fries- zero salt. Good idea but the egg was way overcooked. Also, the fries with my gfs burger- no salt. I worked as a Chef in professional kitchens and as a personal Chef for over a decade and this is absolutely unforgivable. Is there anything worse than french fries with absolutely ZERO salt? Not for me. I'd rather eat a $90 filet 5 min past well done than eat unsalted fries. And, thats saying something. Unfortunately the lack of seasoning didn't end there. The brussels were equally as bland. I was really looking forward to the Pho Rench Dip when I ordered it.. not so much after it arrived. On the entire sandwich there MIGHT have been 3 ounces of the "slow cooked pork," which was very dry. I was expecting pulled pork or something similar texturally speaking. What I got was more like pork paste. It looked like it had been sitting in a steam tray for hours uncovered. My gf had the bacon burger. 3 out of 10. Burgers are typically, if not requested otherwise, cooked to medium.. this one was cooked past med well, the bun was crumbling, and the bacon slices were two very small pieces that had been cooked to hell, and shriveled with no texture. C'mon guys. This is an easy dish to execute.
I like the creativity of the menu but it lacks execution. 3 stars for the cool vibe and speak easy ish feel. The food though- left much to be desired. Given the menu, small portions, and what you're getting- At $41 after tip for two to eat.. I...
