Uncle Larry's — Restaurant in Chattanooga

Purchased 2 plates: The 2 piece catfish plate with baked beans and okra and the whiting fish plate with mac n cheese and okra Add ons were side of hush puppies and the fried green tomatoes. Total spent $41 and change. 1st time eating at Uncle Larry's, and it was enjoyable. Okra was amazing, cooked thoroughly, and flavored just right. Baked beans tasted like canned bush b.b, Fried green tomatoes were okay, the breading was a bit heavy and a bit meally from the breading. They had a firmness to them, which I could tell from the texture they were the perfect ripeness. I was looking for excellent but this would be a 2nd best compared to other restaurants. Fish was moist and large pieces. Mac n Cheese was decent. It did not have a WOW factor for me. My husband, on the other hand ENJOYED IT Food was also made to order and was fresh. Every time, absolutely awesome! I have joyously dined on Uncle Larry’s fabulous catfish since Larry Torrence opened his first restaurant on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in 2013, just two blocks from work. The Brainerd location where I live is terrific! Larry’s brother, Kevin, runs that one, and it's equally awesome and really convenient as a drive-thru (that I just went through!). Always get the Smack'em Sauce, and they usually give you a pack each of mustard and hot sauce to put a Nashville-style spin on your dipping options. HANDS DOWN the best catfish I have ever had! I ordered mine Cajun-style and it was absolutely delicious!

The hushpuppies, okra, "slap em" sauce, and tarter sauce were also all 10/10. The slaw was very good but I prefer mine a tad sweeter... but slaw is just one of those "preference" things. Definitely wont hold it against them because it was still plenty edible.

Very great portion sizes! I could have made it two meals… if I could have only stopped eating it. Haha.

My only regrets are not ordering the fried green tomatoes as well and not trying this...
