Waffle House — Restaurant in Chattanooga

I am not one to give a 5 star review just because the order is done well, it takes every aspect of the experience to bring "all the stars together." This Waffle House did that to complete satisfaction. Plenty of parking in the lot. When we entered around 11 AM we were immediately and cheerfully greeted and told to sit anywhere. Menus were on the table, they were not sticky nor was the table. The floors were clean, the kitchen area was clean, the wait staff was cheerful, the atmosphere was conducive to a pleasant gastrointestinal, non-acid, digestive extravaganza!

Our simple orders of hashbrowns, two eggs (mine over hard, expertly done) and toast brought quickly I was even asked if I wanted more jelly and what kind (wow, how often does that happen!). The food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Water refills without asking.

As everyone knows by now my main focus is on cleanliness. If it ain't clean, I have my doubts about the quality of the food. To me, if you want to know the heart of an eating establishment, visit the restroom, therein lies the "rest of the story." This one was spotless! Bingo, bulls-eye, in-your-face clean!

So the food's always good. It's waffle House. You know what you expect if you've been around for more than 20 years. But today I have literally had the worst service without any excuse in my life. I gave this place in five star review the last time I was here because they were great. But this person who identified us by what we drink. I was sweet tea. My friend Bryce was water and my friend Harry was unsweet tea. She forgot my bacon took 20 minutes to get it. Then we needed refills which we asked for twice and then she said oh I forgot your refills and then never brought us the refills. So for the fifth time in my entire life I did not tip her. Neither did they. She started off really sweet. In fact, she was really nice for the majority of the time except also when we got there the table was dirty which we said at knowing it was dirty and she said oh. Let me get that. You sat down too quickly and we said not a big deal. Take your time which she took as not a big deal. I don't have to wipe it then I had to go to another server the other server to get a washcloth unacceptable. Still...

Great Steak and Eggs! My family treated me to this because I've been craving it. I first had it in 1980 when I worked at GA Retardation Center in Chamblee, GA and never had a bad one.

But, this particular day, I had the best one ever! Wish I'd taken a picture of my plate, but I did get my daughter before we left for a movie.

Perfect medium rare steak, excellent hash browns with mushrooms, and yummy raisin toast at perfect brownness, crunchy on the outside and tender inside.

The store and rest rooms are spotless, as usual. I notice staff washing their hands often, and when they wipe the table, it's with a white, new looking cloth. I was a dishwasher [not here] for a short time and had to get a food service license. I have visited this store twice, and notice that they practice what I was taught, what I can see from a booth :)

I love the waitresses and cooks here. All are friendly and greet you as you come in. I love the bulletin board with all the neat pictures of the staff! This Waffle House is the best, IMHO. The crew works hard, and with...
