Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Chesapeake

Update July 30, 2025. We had excellent service today and our meals were fantastic.

Due to our prior visit we were apprehensive about visiting and are so glad we did.

I tried the grilled AHI and upgraded to the blue cheese pecan chopped side salad.. totally worth the upgrade, it was delicious, absolutely appeased my palate. The tuna was well cooked as requested, seasoned to perfection. Our server was attentive and so patient and kind. The manager stopped by and she too was a gem.

Only down side was the parking lot and grounds are in need a bit of attention.

Previous Visit. ..I have always had wonderful service and delicious meals at Outback Steakhouse and were looking forward to our visit this evening for a special occasion. Upon arrival, our server, Donna was very friendly and engaging. It went rather downhill from there. The Michelob Ultra was totally flat, not a bubble to be seen (although the margarita was fantastic) The server took our menu's without taking our order, guess we had them long enough to memorize them? Ordered salad with extra cheese and dressing and onions on the side. Salad was delivered without salad dressing, no extra cheese, and covered in onions. Ordered the lobster tails with a loaded bake potato with extra cheese, bacon, and butter...as you can see, someone is a bit extra but is willing to pay for it :) In all honesty, the potato looked like it had been forgotten in the oven last night, had a few specs of bacon, and a couple strands of cheese. Ordered the blooming chicken sandwich, it was pictured (well, if my memory is correct from memorizing the menu) as a chicken breast on a delicious bed of lettuce, with pickles, tomatoes, and their special sauce. Unfortunately, it was missing the sauce, was the size of a chicken tender, and the several pieces of lettuce were hidden under the slice of tomato. The chicken was however, great in my leftover side salad :) It would have been nice to have the water we ordered, so thankful I didn't choke on the dry chicken. When approached by Quinten, the Manager, asking how our dinner was, we asked if he wanted an honest answer. He responded that he did although he seemed rather nonchalant and would speak to the back of the house. All in all, we would not recommend this location at this time. I’m so disappointed in the food that I received tonight and I felt that I had to express my displeasure here online. Tonight I ordered salmon and it came back undercooked slimy, and it tasted really fishy. I also received a potato soup that was slimy and I can’t really describe how terrible it was, but it was bad. Nonetheless, the waiter was really kind. She got the manager, but once the manager came, it seemed as though he didn’t see what me and the waiter saw, which was an undercooked salmon and a very slimy potato soup. I asked the manager, what other soups do they have because I was really in the mood for soup and he said they had a French onion soup. When it was brought to me it was a salty gravy with a huge chunk of cheese in the middle of it. It was absolutely disgusting! I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to be a bother, but I waited an additional 30 minutes, maybe longer for the salmon to finally come out and not only was it soggy, and it looks slimy it was almost white in color and very unappetizing. The manager seemed to be annoyed and told me that he comped the salmon and I could take it home and cook it longer. The fact is, I didn’t want to cook tonight. I wanted to eat dinner and then go home And leave for my trip but I spent way too much time at a restaurant, Just trying to get a simple meal. At the end of the day I just ended up crying and leaving. I won’t be back and unfortunately, this restaurant used to be my favorite. On the bright side, my waiter was an absolute doll, just a complete angel and so I made sure to tip her appropriately. The manager could use a retraining. I’ve never worked in the service industry personally but, I know in finance and real estate we care about people and we try and be kind. This man was very abrasive and attempted to try and gaslight me into accepting that the food was not poorly prepared. If a customer says that the soup has a weird consistency, the reply of the manager should not be “well that’s how our soup looks”. Why was the soup congealed together like jell-O...

2023 August, we realized why we avoided stopping here to pickup food to go. Ordered via phone, they said it will be ready at 3:30pm, we arrived at 3:22pm, parked in to go pickup parking spot, called, they told us to come inside because they were busy, walked inside immediately, watched them continue taking orders via phone and few other people arrived after me and they got their food before we did. They brought a lot of bags of people's orders from the kitchen, watched them give bags to other people and watched them make sure my bag was correct and then I was finally told that this bag was mine and had to pay. After driving off, we realized that they did not give us all the condiments that we requested and the salad was REALLY OLD, tasted dry and NOT FRESH! Croutons were NOT crunchy as well. Filet mignon was delicious and baked potato was good but this steakhouse can't only be good at steak and potatoes. Can they?

2022 October 16, Curbside pickup was much better and the food was amazing! Ordered online, called when we arrived, they brought the food out immediately and other people were there before us still waiting for their food. 5 stars!

One month prior, Food was excellent but curbside pickup needs improvement. Had to park and go inside to pay and pickup food. Went inside several times because the bread was not warm, they said curbside pickup customers or guests will not get warm bread for some reason. Ordered 2 bread but was given only one, so I had to go back inside to get warm bread and 2nd bread. Also went back inside to get toppings for sweet potato, nice young gentleman at the takeout desk told me that the toppings are in a honey butter container. He went to the back to get us the honey butter and cinnamon topping for the sweet potato. The filet mignon, baked potato, sweet potato and fresh garden salad were all good and tasted very delicious even 1 hour after picking...
