Went for an anniversary dinner.
Hibachi: good flavor, good presentation and good show, my dynamite chicken was great and if you like me and like spicy food ask for some extra sauce on the side they have two kinds.
The lady had chicken and shrimp and enjoyed it as I did mine.
My sons adult menu dynamite chicken was dry and overcooked most likely because they cut the chicken so thin.
Soup and salad come with it which is nice and it’s priced the same as most hibachis in the area.
We ordered some sushi for the appetizer and for 15.00 per specialty roll it left a lot to be desired, loosely rolled and just under very under par. I’m not a fan of sushi ai but they opened one across the street and for all you can eat for dinner for 20.00 if you want okay sushi I’d go there.
If you want good sushi at a great price stop at Sams Club and get the 22.00 platter it’s more than enough to feed a few people and high quality believe it or not.
Hot tip drink before you go if you want alcohol we had a lychee martini 11.00, an old fashioned that was not even close to correct for 8.00 and a double Jim Beam neat was 13.50. Over priced.
Our chef was good but I prefer if I’m at a Japanese restaurant we have an actual Japanese chef not Hispanic. For 160.00 bucks for three after tip I would have been just as satisfied picking up Panda Express and a bottle.
Can’t knock their hustle making money off Chesterfield elites.
But happy wife happy life so to me it was worth it once in a while, will try Kobe next time as I hear the quality of meats are better.
My next house will definitely have a griddle in the kitchen for things like this , breakfast, burgers etc.
They charge 3.00 extra for fried rice which we all had but honestly it should just come with fried rice with an option to sub for brown or white, it doesn’t cost 3.00 extra to...
Read moreWhile this restaurant seems to be split up into 2 distinct sides (Sushi & Hibachi), this review is only about the Sushi side. TLDR: The food for the three of us was quite good, yet duplicated. The menu is not clear on a number of things. The service was fair. All three of the above intertwined to make for an experience that was simply "okay".
Started off with an order of pot stickers and soft shell crab tempura. One reason we ordered the "soft shell crab" is that it did not also list "& vegetables" like the other types of "tempura". Needless to say, it did come with vegetables, a number of which we couldn't identify. Both appetizers were good, but not outstanding. For entrées one order was for the crab tempura. As it turns out, this is the exact same thing as the appetizer with only the addition of rice. One is listed as "Soft Shell Crab" and the other is listed as "Crab". The portion sizes appeared to be the exact same as well. I would have expected a good server to recognize the two orders similarity and either ask if this was wanted, or point out the duplication. An order of Sashimi was simply good. One of the items was a "chef's choice". When the server was asked what it was, they could not identify the cut of fish. The last entrée was ordered off of the flip menu on the table only after it was pointed out by someone at the table. Between this and the regular menu, clarity is not a strong suit. Overall nothing to distinguish this restaurant from other average sushi...
Read moreThis place has good food and great service but is just too expensive to justify what they're serving. I'm more of a fan of finding a smaller mom and pop restaurant since most of the time I'm always really pleased with the quality and portions and walk away with a happy stomach and a happy wallet. I would say the sushi is slightly better quality than other popular chain places like Sushi AI but the price per roll for some of the rolls are outrageous. $15 for an almost identical Rainbow roll is over double what I would pay for the same roll at one of my local spots.
The hibachi items have a similar story, though in some cases are little more forgivable. The Teriyaki Steak for example is $23. It tastes fine overall but you can tell that the cut of the steak is of a lesser quality. More tough and chewy instead of tender and juicy. Teriyaki flavor was also pretty minimal. The only redeeming qualities to the dish were that the vegetables were grilled well, the noodles and sauce were just right, and the price included a soup (broth with a couple mushroom slices) and salad which I was pleasantly surprised by the ginger dressing.
Overall I would definitely reserve this place for when your feeling fancy or for special occasions. Absolutely not going to become a regular for me, just too expensive of an experience for...
