Love this place! It's a clean, somewhat small place with two four seated booths, 3 two seat table tops and two four seat table tops. My husband and I have been here twice for lunch and both times received excellent service from Tina and Jeni. Even the chef owner Tor made an appearance to be sure we were pleased with our food. I even witnessed Tina go back to a nearby table after serving their entrees several minutes beforehand. I overheard her say she realized she brought the wrong food to the patron from what she had ordered and offered to replace it immediately. Evidently the woman was enjoying the "mistake" and reassured Tina it would not be necessary. Monday through Friday they have a lunch special that includes soup, crab Rangoon and an egg roll served within minutes of placing your order so if you arrive starving you won't have to wait long to begin eating. Entrees arrive maybe five minutes later. We have had the cashew chicken, the Thai spicy basil with beef (pad prick) and pad Thai. All three dishes were delicious and leftovers warmed over well. I had the impression that this new restaurant was Chef Tor's first foray into owning his own business, so if you would like to help support a small new business along with the owner and his devoted staff, give Thai...
Read moreDon't let this place's meager seating fool you! The food is excellent and the service spectacular. We arranged a 7:45pm reservation thru Google's reservation service which I was quite pleased to find they used. There were approximately 8 tables, 3 of which are booths. When we arrived, the place was nearly full! To us, this is a great sign as to the quality of the food. We were not disappointed!!!
Although there was some confusion when we arrived, we were seated immediately at our reserved corner table and presented a modest menu of classic Thai dishes. For appetizers, we chose the Roti Paratha which came with a delightful curry sauce. For entreés, I chose the Massaman Curry with shrimp seasoned to the maximum heat, a level they called "Thai street food hot." My Lady chose Pad Khing with shrimp and the medium spice level. "Absolutely delicious!!!" is how we both described the appetizer and entree. We did, however, find the spice levels to be below what we expected; perfect difference for those with a milder palate.
If you're ever in West County while visiting St Louis and get the craving for Thai food at great prices, Thai Mukda is -THE- place to try! Our recommendation...
Read moreMany others have talked about how delicious the food is, how lovely the atmosphere is, and how polite the staff are. I concur, but want to write this review from a different position: from that of a spice fiend.
The restraunt advertises 1 as mild, and 5 as "Thai hot." This seems broadly true, from the other patrons I've interacted with to the owner, Thâw, who has corroborated that he doesn't typically order anything above a 5. On whim, a friend and myself asked if there was anything above a 5, and he said yes, he can make any level of spice.
So pictured is my Spice Level 25 Panag Curry, and the endorphin rush post-meal is the best that I've had. Fellow spice fiends, if you are looking for something spicy, then look no further. Satiate the desire to order something incredibly spicy, and order from here. No longer will anyone steal your leftovers (if, God forbid, you leave any) for fear of biting into a succulent dish that would leave the unwashed masses clutching at...
