Love everything about this place - ambience, excellent pastries, good lunch options and hearty breakfast options. I especially will be back for the delicious strawberry ube matcha.
One thing I was a little disturbed by is when I ordered a prosciutto sandwich. I heard my name and order called, I went to go get it but saw someone else taking it. I saw her say thank you to someone behind the counter and take it back to her table. This lady ordered directly after me so I figured she must have ordered the same sandwich and heard the name wrong, so I would just get the next one that came out. I went back to my seat but then I heard the girl went back to the counter, I assume she figured out it was not her order. I heard someone behind the counter repeat my name and order, and she said oh that’s not my name (we had very similar names). So 30 seconds later I hear my name and order called again and she doesn’t have the sandwich anymore. So this means a) the people behind the counter saw and acknowledged the lady who ordered after me pick up a sandwich order before me and it wasn’t even the right sandwich for her and b) gave me the same sandwich without telling me what happened. I have NO IDEA whether she touched the sandwich or ate chips off the plate or what, and I assume the workers don’t either since they didn’t even realize she had the wrong order. I feel like there’s a high chance she did grab the sandwich if she realized she had the wrong order.
In the end I did not say anything and I ate the sandwich because I didn’t want to cause trouble, or embarrass the lady sitting nearby, and want to believe that she didn’t touch it or have clean hands if she did. I will say that I used to be a server and I would never have done that. I wish they would have at least told me instead of pretending it...
Read moreThis place is PERFECT. It has the best of both worlds, coffee and wine! The manager is absolutely wonderful. He is extremely kind, accommodating, and always ensuring a great experience. I work nearby and this has become my new spot for coffee, breakfast, snacks, lunch, AND wine and cocktails! The ONLY PROBLEM I keep coming across is people with laptops. They do not leave, they sit there for hours on end, only purchasing maybe 1 coffee, and not allowing for anyone else to sit and enjoy the food or drinks. This place serves cocktails and wine....people want to be able to sit down and enjoy it - but its become impossible lately. I have witnessed the manager trying to politely manage this with guests - but of course, you get the Karen's that feel the need to make a big deal. There are many work spaces in the area that people can go to work instead. I hope that something is done to manage this, because I love coming here and I have influenced all of my colleagues to join me - but if there is never anywhere to sit - especially after 4pm, we will be left with no option but to go somewhere else. When we/I go and sit, I continuously order food or beverages - but if I don't have this opportunity, no one else does either - which is lost revenue! We all know what lost revenue equates to real quick...and I want to see this place be successful! PLEASE PLEASE limit laptop times, ban them, etc. MANY other coffee shops do this around the city and I hope Dialtone adopts this and sticks to it! Thank you Dialtone team - you guys are wonderful and I will see you soon! Hopefully with minimal to...
Read moreI had an unpleasant experience the second time i came here. I was sitting at a spot where 2 tables were pushed together so I could have more room to work. The person sitting in the spot before me had pushed them together and I just moved over when they left. An employee came up to me and told me I wasn’t allowed to “push two tables together to make a desk for myself” even though I had not seen anyone say anything to the person before me who had originally pushed them together. The cafe was not busy at that time - there were multiple tables open. If it became a period where it was busier and people needed tables of course I wouldn’t take up 2 and would have offered the extra one. He then also told me they had a new policy where laptops are not allowed after 4pm. However, there were other people in the cafe with their laptops open (including 2 people right in front of me!) but he did not say anything to them and only singled me out for having my laptop open? I was just here last week doing work with my laptop until late and I had been here already since 5:30pm so for them to not say anything until 7pm was odd. It was embarrassing to be told I was doing something wrong when others in the cafe were doing the same thing, but I was the only one being talked to about it.
I liked this place because of the drinks and the option to stay at a cafe late to study but with this new “no laptops after 4pm policy” and being rudely singled out by the employees for whatever reason, I won’t be...
