I recently had the pleasure of dining at Blue Door Kitchen & Garden, and I must say, it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped through the blue door, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable evening.
The first thing that struck me was the stunning ambiance of the restaurant. The rustic yet elegant interior design, combined with the soft lighting and carefully selected decor, created a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It felt like stepping into a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of the city.
The menu at Blue Door Kitchen & Garden is a true testament to their commitment to using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The presentation was nothing short of spectacular, with each plate resembling a work of art.
The knowledgeable and attentive staff at Blue Door Kitchen & Garden further enhanced the dining experience. From our knowledgeable server to the friendly sommelier, every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. They were more than willing to offer suggestions and accommodate any dietary preferences or restrictions.
One standout aspect of Blue Door Kitchen & Garden is their commitment to supporting local farmers and sustainable practices. The emphasis on farm-to-table cuisine was evident in every bite, and it was refreshing to know that I was supporting a restaurant that values ethical sourcing and environmental stewardship.
I also had the pleasure of speaking with the chef, who exuded passion and creativity. He took the time to personally explain the inspiration behind each dish and even shared some culinary tips and tricks. This level of engagement and transparency truly added a personal touch to the overall dining experience.
In conclusion, Blue Door Kitchen & Garden is a hidden gem that should not be missed. The combination of delectable cuisine, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere creates an experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. Whether you're looking for a romantic dinner, a celebratory meal, or simply a memorable dining experience, Blue Door Kitchen & Garden is the perfect destination. I can't wait to return and explore more of their...
Read moreFirst, let’s get the positive part out of the way: the food at this place is amazing, some of the best chicken and waffles I’ve had in a while. Same for the corn bread.
Second, and where you need to pay attention, specially if you’re a minority: we were without a doubt discriminated and placed inside in the undesirables corner.
Here’s how it happened: upon arrival we asked the hostess if it was possible to sit in the patio, to which she replied it wasn’t possible. We agreed to sit inside without thinking much about it. Then 5 minutes later after we sat, the table next to us was extremely, and I mean extremely loud with their laughter and talk (if you visited on 10/19 at 12pm you know who you are, get some manners) I walked to the hostess and I requested to be seated somewhere else, I insisted outside was the best option, she looked at her tablet for a second or two and asked me to wait to see what she could do.
She came back and magically a table was available for us outside in the patio area. When we walked to the patio area multiple tables were open and available for parties of multiple sizes (we were only 2) and definitely they had tables for parties of only two.
So how come multiple tables became available in less than 5 minutes after I insisted to be seated outside? This restaurant clearly profiles their customers upon arrival, based on appearance, maybe color of your skin, the way you dress or all of the previous combined.
After we were seated outside and our order was taken by Nadiia, nobody checked on us again, nobody asked if we needed refills, nobody asked if the food was okay, all they did was to pick up our plates once we finished, no other questions asked.
It’s a shame that restaurants that offer food this good are still doing practices straight out of 1960s segregation. If you have tables outside for two, and we are a party of two asking for a table outside, it should be made available for us, unless you have a private reservation system we are not aware of.
And let’s make it clear, this was not an anomaly, I’ve read the previous reviews here on google and this has happened to more people before.
Stay away from this place, your food is good but it’s not worth it due to your...
Read moreI dislike leaving reviews without having tried the food first, and will first note the food smelled very nice and those who were served seemed to get large portions and enjoyed their meal. This review is entirely about our experience making a reservation and then walking out due to not receiving service. We did not try the food.
Made a reservation for 3PM which is an odd time, I'll admit. We were shown to our table, a couple next to us had menus but no drinks. After about ten minutes they managed to get a drink order in and delivered while a bus boy gave us water. Still no server. A family comes in, they get their drink order taken right away. We're still sitting there, nothing but water and menus.
After about twenty minutes of no waiter coming to our table despite others having some service we decided it was perhaps best to leave. We were preparing to leave when, at the 25 minute mark of sitting and waiting, a server came over. They were polite and informed us there was a shift change and they were sorry for the wait.
We decided to leave regardless, as we were the only people on the floor who had yet to be even asked for drink orders despite arriving after two other tables who had drinks in/delivered. We are a mixed couple (white/Filipino) and while I do not wish to imply any hostility it was discouraging to see that the other tables served before us were both white. We are very disappointed as we live within walking distance and had been wanting to try this place for a while. We will not be returning.
I wish to stress the hostess and the server that did finally speak to us were polite, hence the two star rating. Q was open around the corner and they were lovely. We had food and apps on the table in about fifteen minutes. We were not looking for a fast dining experience, but rather wanted to have a romantic date out and found the experience at Blue Door put a damper on that due to ignoring us for literally twenty five minutes (outside giving us...
