I recently had the opportunity to dine at Green Tea Japanese Restaurant, a place I hadn't visited in over a decade. The restaurant has since relocated and undergone a transformation in its interior design. A friend highly recommended it, so I decided to give it a try.
From the moment I stepped inside, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The cozy setup, with just a few tables, created an intimate and inviting ambiance. The new decor is beautifully done, making the space feel both modern and comfortable.
The service was exceptional from the start. The waiter was attentive, friendly, and offered great recommendations for the dishes. I ordered several items to sample, including the Spicy Kampachi, Grilled Squid Robata, and the Omakase Nigiri Set, which came with miso soup and a salad.
Each dish was prepared to perfection—bursting with flavor and presented with care. The freshness of the ingredients and the attention to detail truly stood out. Combined with the excellent service and delightful atmosphere, the dining experience was memorable.
This restaurant has definitely exceeded my expectations, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. If you’re looking for delicious Japanese cuisine in a cozy and well-decorated setting, I highly recommend Green Tea Japanese Restaurant. It’s a place I’ll gladly...
Read moreOur friends had a good meal here and recommended to us for a Saturday get together, so we ordered take out. There are mixed reviews on Google but usually we don't care much for them since not very many people know what sushi is and what it should taste like and definitely not how it should be prepared. When I picked up the food I realized that It is a Thai owned restaurant and immediately I changed my expectation.
It turned out that I was right. The fish was old, not slimy old but dry old. I saw other reviews having the same findings so I was not the only one. If you are used to eating the sushi from buffets and the cooler section of Jewel Osco you probably cannot tell the difference. The flavor combination was ok. The traditional Catepillar, Boston, Dragon type of specialty rolls were ok, the rice was cooked correctedly, the arrangements were standard. The tempura rolls were horrible, too wet, too much sauce inside the rolls and it is hard to keep it together.
The small side dishes were not good either, the poke was too spicy while the Tuna was old and dry, the texture of the Tuna was already starting to harden. The Takoyaki had very little Tako in it, and the mixture was undercooked. The Soft Shell Crab was ok but the so called Ponzu sauce...

I’m happy to see you’re expanding. It was very nice to see the team and familiar faces. Thanks for keeping some of my favorite dishes and for making a bigger menu. You’re the best and 1st choice, always a good experience. Love the environment, the people and the food. I loved the new presentation of the food, missed a little bit the old presentation so hopefully you keep it for some dishes.
Keep it up, you’re great. Wonderful as always!

After eating here I couldn’t believe I didn’t find this gem before, I now know I resonated at the same frequency when I found it. Sushi is very fresh. I got Threekings and Ginger Saba maki and they were both amazing rolls. Service was great from both waitress and chef. Had a nice talk with chef Get. It’s a very cozy environment and Japanese feel here. Sushi is art and I am really grateful chef made such tasty and beautiful dishes for me. I say the best experiences eating sushi is always at the bar. Have to come back for their Ramen, it sounds really good. To the owner and the people who work here, You got me at Green...
