Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams — Restaurant in Chicago

What an amazing ice cream experience! I wanted a little bit of refreshment on a warm Chicago afternoon while visiting the city. Jeni’s was close to my hotel (The Drake), so I gave it a shot.

The shop is in the little triangular park right at N Rush and Chestnut. There’s some pretty outdoor seating with shade, greenery, and birds. There are several trash cans available to conveniently keep things clean and employees were cleaning the glass on the doors while I was there. It’s clear they work to keep things tidy.

I had to walk to the far side of the shop to get to the entrance because they keep the traffic inside flowing in one direction. It’s a smart move for busy days! I was greeted when I came in, and waited in a line about ten people deep. The line moved well enough, but gave me plenty of time to read through all the flavors listed on the menu. I had four I was trying to decide between.

Once I got to the counter, they were eager to let me try the flavors. I was shocked that they use little metal spoons that you then deposit into a dirties bucket for cleaning. That was such a nice touch! Anyway, their friendly service sold me on a double scoop in the waffle bowl. I selected the honey vanilla bean with a scoop of the caramel apple crumble.

Once outside, I found a bench quickly and tucked into my treat. It was smooth and creamy, and loaded with rich flavors. The caramel apple crumble was a little on the sweet side, and the honey vanilla bean balanced it nicely. The bowl was crunch and flavorful, and paired nicely with the ice creams.

If you want a delicious treat while on the Miracle Mile, this is close by and a worthwhile use...

It was the worst experience! The worker was rude, disrespectful, and NEEDS training to work with customers. My family, friends, and I will be taking our business elsewhere, where the business values their customers.

On Dec 30th, we were celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday. My daughter loves ice cream, so we decided to go to Jeni's, ending the night with her favorite treat... what a mistake!

We came to the establishment more than 30 minutes before closing. There was a long line, but it was indoors, so it couldn't be that bad. 45 minutes later, I reached the counter to order.

We were being rushed, refused to try some samples, and being told, "you need to get out". Did not have the decency to take into consideration I have my 4 and 5 year olds, which is the only reason I went there in the first place.

I still bought ice cream for my kids, but will never go to this establishment again nor recommend it to anyone!

To management, watch your cameras and train your employee's, if you're okay with your employee's actions that night, it would say a lot about...

Wonderful 5 star ⭐️ service. I’ve heard a lot of wonderful things about this ice cream. I have tried to go a number of times however the line is usually so very long in the summer time. I figured since it snowed on Halloween 2023 there wouldn’t be anybody eating ice cream in 30 degrees weather. I walked right into a clean store smelling of fresh baked waffles made by Justin both He & Dereasha had happy smiling faces. Welcome to Jenni’s she said. Dereasha was and Ice cream 😇 Angel. She patiently offered me samples and shared with me a little about the ice cream since it was my very first visit. She ask me what flavors I like, then let me try about five different flavors. My taste buds were swimming in ice cream heaven. Since I couldn’t decide and it’s cold outside I took a pint home to eat wrapped in my blanket with my heat on while looking out my window with my candles growing.
