Overpriced and bad quality depending on what you get.
This review is long, but not entirely negative, so proceed if you’d like.
I have been here a total of 3 times in hopes that I’d find at least one thing I liked, but each visit has been mediocre at best (I’m being generous). I purchased a Ham and Cheese Croissant on my first visit when they first opened and it was $13!!! How ridiculous. They sell their regular croissants for $6, so I need to pay $7 EXTRA dollars for a single piece of ham and cheese slapped onto the middle AND you won’t even warm up for me? They didn’t have the menus out or the prices listed, so there was no way for me to see the price before hand.
In terms of dining in, don’t even bother. I got the croque madame and it was cold and clearly reheated. My order was NOT made fresh except for their sad excuse of a salad which is just some mixed greens with ONE singular tomato and a dijon vinaigrette. I looked around the room when I got my food in disbelief and everyone had the same salad with one singular tomato. I think the only other thing that they actually make to order is the fried egg that goes on top of the croque madame and MAYBE the crepes LOL.
Also the plastic flowers do not look parisienne/good and cheapen the place. No flowers are better than fake ones, sorry.
“Today you can buy mass-produced packaged products in many grocery stores, even in bakery & pastry shops, but believe us, they are a pale substitute for the real thing.“ ^^^^ this is a quote from their website and it just does not sit right with me. I’d truly be much more satisfied getting a huge pack of croissants at costco rather than buying another croissant here. I know how to bake croissants and yes, these ones are that bad. Just open it up, look in the middle and you’ll see for yourself.
The service here is fine, and the staff is kind. However, I wish the food was better considering how long it took for this place to open up.
The only thing that I like about this place is their pistachio chocolate croissants, baguettes, and assorted jams, mustards, and spreads.
Yes, I would return here, but only for those three things ^ . I really hope the quality of food gets better for what they charge. You wouldn’t believe how many people I’ve talked to about this place that refuse to go because it’s overpriced for what they get. But this is lincoln park, so I’m sure people don’t mind paying a lot of money for aggressively mediocre food. If you’re thinking of going out of your way to visit this...
Read moreAs a first time customer at Maiden Parisienne, I have to say I was quite upset. Inside was nice with the decor but the customer service was just horrible. I am in total shock how my friend and I were treated. We did not know that you had to have a table first to dine in that’s fine something we did not realize to even enjoy our coffee and pastries that we had ordered. As I was taking a selfie of my friend and I the lady in orange hair comes up to us all rude (in which I’ve attached a photo of my friend and I with that lady in the background) she scared me no sorry for photobombing us, she comes to us like she was on a mission telling us that we cannot seat here and mentioned that the seating was for “full menu only” whatever that means (look at how the place is empty in the photo) in which to say we were okayed by a guy that works there to seat there as we did not know you are initially not allowed to. My friend and I could not even enjoy our coffee after that rude demeanor from the lady nor our pastry. If the lady would have told us nicely and provide the best customer service for Maison Parisienne I wouldn’t been as upset as I am now. Basically she said it in a way to leave this table right away and right then we felt so unwelcomed. We just wanted to get out of there right away. How is that ok to treat customers like that is giving business? I would understand to say it in a welcoming and nice demeanor but not the way we were spoken to was unexpected. Proper customer service I feel is a must for businesses and if staff can’t deliver that to customers no matter what the situation may be, customers will not be coming back. First and last time...
Read moreMaison Parisienne, located on Armitage Ave, is a delightful French café that offers one of the most chill and colorful dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported to Paris. The ambiance is charming, with a beautiful fountain in the middle of the restaurant and soothing French music playing in the background. The décor is vibrant and authentically Parisian, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. I ordered Le Thon Mayo, a French baguette sandwich filled with tuna, mayo, mustard, and lettuce. The flavor was absolutely on point. The bread was perfectly crunchy, and each bite was a testament to its freshness. The tuna was flavorful and well-seasoned, enhanced by the creamy mayo and the slight tang of mustard. The crisp lettuce added a refreshing crunch, making the sandwich balanced and satisfying. Every component of the sandwich worked together harmoniously, from the crunchiness of the bread to the savory, flavorful tuna filling. The mustard brought all the flavors together beautifully, providing just the right amount of zing without overpowering the other ingredients. My experience at Maison Parisienne was nothing short of perfect, and I would definitely come back for more. Whether you're a fan of French cuisine or simply looking for a serene spot to enjoy a meal, this café is a must-visit. Highly...
