North & Clark Cafe — Restaurant in Chicago

I stopped in here today for a late lunch after a lovely stroll to the lake. I arrived just a few minutes before closing time and they had sold out of the soup of the day (that's a good thing) so I ordered the Brie and Apple Panini. The sandwich was very good. Nice and toasted/crispy panini with gooey brie on green apples with carmelized onions and spinach. I am not going to lie: I daydreamed about having a thin slice of prosciutto in the mix but it was a terrific vegetarian sandwich. It was served with homemade chips that were delish. I could have subbed a salad or fries for a small fee if I so desired. Great location. Nice and clean. Fresh baked goodies available. I checked out the museum store while I waited for my food. I ate at this café for the first time yesterday, and was pleased overall. The space was clean, the menu was clear with a good variety of options, and the food tasted fine. The service was fast, even considering the fact that there were only two patrons there. I got the Chicago chili dog (with chips and a pickle) and a cup of coffee. The prices were on the high side, and the hot dog and chili could have been served a bit hotter, but overall a lunch that was rather good. Never go to Cafe after 2 pm because they will give you cold fries and cold sandwiches that should be hot. Grilled chicken sandwich wasn’t even grilled, it was cold and not even warmed up. The fries were left overs sitting for a long time. They are usually very good but not when they are cold. They are totally going down in their food quality such a shame when they were the best in...
