We live nearby and I was not aware of this small gem on Webster near DePaul. Always looking to upgrade our cafe experience, I stopped by around Noon on a recent Friday with my laptop to do some work and finish the week. First thing I noticed is how bright , clean and cozy this place is. There are not a lot of tables, but the few are very comfortable and plenty of room to spread out and work. The woman who checked me out seemed friendly and helpful. The chairs were really comfortable to sit in - important if planning on staying a while. I ordered a small dark roast coffee which was just what I would have wanted - good flavor and hot. There is a choice of pastries too - being later in the day most were gone. Since I am a vegan, I am hoping there are vegan options - might stop by Saturday morning after they open to see. Very impressed and this will be one I will be sure to frequently visit. The hours are great - opening at 7 AM and closing at 5 PM every day accommodates a variety...
Read moreI really enjoyed my cortado here, it was excellent. My partner and his parents had mixed reviews, MIL and FIL loved their hazelnut lattes but his americano was a bit watery, so I would recommend their milk drinks.
A regular was in with her dog, and the worker/owner (who was very nice) had his partner visit with their two dogs. It is a small space and it was so unpleasant to have three small dogs running up to people, running around the room, and barking incessantly. I can't figure out why no one out of these three adults took it outside. Even my MIL loves dogs and found it unprofessional as well, because well, yeah, take it outside. After sitting for a couple of minutes in disbelief, 5 out of the 7 other customers in the space left including our party, and the two remaining looked a bit put off.
I am sure this is a one off and I would still say it is a good place to grab a drink, but my personal experience was...

I got a latte with oat milk and simple syrup and was charged 85 cents for simple syrup- something that most coffee shops add for free as it is literally just sugar and water. Most coffee shops have simple syrup on the counter with milks to add to your coffee once you get it but not here. My latte was 7 dollars before tax and tasted so bland, zero flavor.
I also got a latte for my friend which was supposed to be caramel and she said she couldn’t tell it was caramel flavored at all. Again, a 7 dollar latte. With tax I spent over 18 dollars on two iced lattes that didn’t even taste like anything. I won’t be...
