I really want to give the Ray a 5 but there are so many issues.
First off, to the red shirt dude who patrols the 3rd/4th floor at night on Monday/Thursday/a few other days, do you really have to act like me and the people using the basketball courts can't hear the intercom? Dude is always trying to get us to leave early. Also, if you see me cleaning my boxing gloves 15 minutes before closing time, is it really necessary to walk up and tell me to get out? No joke, once him (or someone that looked like him) was waiting for me when I got out of the shower, reminding me while I was naked that they were closing. And before you ask, no it was not unreasonably late (11:02) nor was I even close to the last person there.
Most of the other employees are great though, shout out Sandon and Will. Stan and the other elderly cleaners at night are also cool.
Other complaints I have are a lack of equipment, the gym seems big but the space usage is really inefficient. There are so many empty treadmills while I can't do arms or bench press during peak hour. There's also only a few heavy bags which is disappointing. Also for some reason, I get interrogated every quarter because they have some technological error and it says I haven't paid for membership... that is really annoying...
My next complaint isn't necessarily the Ray's fault but I'll mention it regardless. There's a lot of annoying people here. From the loud gym bros to the people who have no respect for personal space to the people who treat this as a filming studio for tik tok.
My redeeming stars come from the fact that their grad student/staff/alumni discounts are quite good. I probably wouldn't pay for it if it wasn't. Although I would argue for grad students it should be free... but I digress. This is also a pretty comprehensive gym. There's a swimming pool, punching bags, a track, basketball courts, yoga studios, extracurricular sports leagues, and overall just a little bit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis gym is such a waste. If you're a student it's worth it go there learn to workout and form a good habit of going to the gym. If you are just going to shoot hoops or run on the track thwn enjoy, but the courts are reserved more than 80 percent of the time. If you're not a student and you actually care about your health, your fitness, and staying injury free avoid this place! They constantly buy new equipment that is going to cause injuries. They buy multiples of the same equipment no one ever uses and won't purchase machines that could actually be useful and help people avoid injury. I was a member there for 9 years before I got tired of the staff who seems to get increasingly more rude every year, the promises made to buy a specific machine and being lied too, and my membership rates raising without...

And it's been doing so since 1999. Despite it's age the building and amenities look brand new. If you are thinking of joining a fitness center or gym look no further... I love this place and you will too! On top of all that, there is a great community vibe about the place. It's a spot you can have a cup pf coffee and watch TV, meet up, hang out,, study, or just be around friends. The...
