S2 Express Grill Downtown — Restaurant in Chicago

I've been here several times and always find that I enjoy the food and the environment. It's pretty quiet but the food reminds me of home. Any one who eats southern cuisine, (down south) will find something authentic to satisfy your palette. But let's not get it twisted, you can be from anywhere and enjoy a meal that has flavor. Of course, there is room to tweak a few things on the menu like any other establishment. Overall I've never been disappointed with the overall experience.

Why? Because there are a lot of choices on the menu. That's what's so great about the place. One week, I want a great lamb burger. Next I want wings, or catfish or something jerked. Still other times,I can enjoy that great American steak and lobster cooked to my liking. Other times, I want a tasty dessert to finish off a long days work. There is something for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you are a great cook, chef or what ever, you will always find something that's not cooked to your idea of perfection. S2 Express does a pretty darn good job and will attend to your culinary needs when you present your case😁. It reminds me of home. You get a good meal for a good price, a little sas,😁 a little flavor and depending on whether or not you want to be stuffed when you walk out the door or satisfied, you might walk out with part of your meal to take home. In my case, I have enough to take to work and enjoy for lunch. This is a great place to grab a meal and go. It does have seating but not for a large party. My wife and kids joined me one evening and we all were delighted with the food and service.

Normal hustle and bustle of working downtown and getting to metra. We missed our train and wanted to have dinner locally. It didn’t seem kid friendly even just waiting for food. We attempted to dine in and unfortunately there was a plastic piece (the white plastic bread holder from packaging the store bought bread) found upon eating/biting into my daughter’s beef burrito. I immediately got the attention of the sweet bartender who made the supervisor aware. She too was very polite and did apologize for this experience and offered to remake and refund the meal. Once she made the back of the house aware there was no acknowledgment of the issue just “we know what you ordered and will have it ready”. I thought that was very disappointing and dismissive seeing it was a back of the house issue that caused this. The service from the cashier, supervisor and bartender were good however this was not a good experience nor was the atmosphere one I would deem as kid friendly for a quick dinner. As I spend a lot of time downtown. My daughter did state “the asparagus was seasoned and the few bites of the first burrito was very good”. Unfortunately, the second one was bland and that may be because we waited a long time for food but had to catch the train once it had to be remade. Because it happened so fast there was no time to take pictures and as stated above they were still willing to rectify...

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at S2 Express Grill, and a huge part of that was thanks to our incredible server, Lynda. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with the warmest smile and made me feel right at home. Her positive energy was contagious, and her enthusiasm throughout the meal made the whole dining experience feel special. Lynda's friendly, upbeat attitude truly set the tone for an unforgettable visit.

Lynda went above and beyond when it came to customer service. Not only did she patiently answer all of my questions, but she also took the time to recommend the best food and drink pairings, making sure I was completely satisfied with my choices. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about giving me the best dining experience possible. She made the entire process of ordering effortless and enjoyable, which is a rarity in the fast-paced restaurant world.

What truly sets Lynda apart is her incredible attention to detail. She consistently checked in to ensure I had everything I needed, all while maintaining a cheerful and professional demeanor. It's not often you encounter someone with such a perfect blend of enthusiasm and efficiency.
