Americana Submarine is one of those old-school, no-frills spots that just hits different—especially when you need a late-night bite. Rolled up around midnight and grabbed a steak and cheese sub with everything, plus a bag of chips and a pop for about $12. The sandwich was solid—loaded with steak, gooey cheese, fresh lettuce, tomato, and mayo, all on a soft roll. The guy behind the counter was cool, service was quick, and they keep it simple here—no gimmicks, just good, greasy, satisfying food. Not much seating, but that’s not why you come here. Update!!! Due to the great taste i got the 1st time, i came back the 2nd time within weeks however in 8am. They open 247 so different staff was making the food this time, mhmmm, regretted it and havent been back ever since... They used roasted beef for my same Italian beef order, taste was completely changed and disappointing, no more that yummy taste of the 1st time... Still holding off for revisiting...!!!

1st time here today (5pm). Ordered 2 foot long Italian beefs. It is so good that i have to give 5 stars right away before i even finish my sub. The staff are nice and friendly too. Just love it!!! Definitely...

I been coming to Americana Submarine since 1992, as a junior at DePaul University. They have the best heroes (or submarine) sandwiches in the country! I live in New York City and every time I visit Chicago, I stop at least twice and order the Super Bomber. Every time I come, I get a warm welcome from the staff and they are glad to see me. Their bread is always fresh and their cold cuts are fresh and tasty. Being from New York, we are very picky about food. Americana Submarine is the best! You haven’t been to Chicago unless you been to...
