This restaurant served the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Went here with my boyfriend, and ordered the Kung Pao chicken and chicken fried rice, with an egg roll and egg drop soup for sides. The restaurant pulls you in with a trendy chalkboard advertising their spicy chicken, leading you down an alley and into a very casual, street food restaurant. Had hopes of finding a hidden gem but were instead incredibly disappointed about the entire experience. The chicken in both entrees was bland, not fresh, chewy, and there were bits and pieces of what seemed like bone. My Kung Pao entree tasted like everything had been thrown together with a sauce slathered on top in hopes to make everything cohesive. My egg roll was okay. My boyfriend’s chicken fried rice tasted like just rice; no flavor. The soup was probably the worst of it all, which tasted like peas and carrots in chicken broth, and it also included chewy, flavorless chicken. We did not even finish! Had a few bites and asked for a refund, they were accommodating with this. 0...
Read moreI went there today, my order was placed ahead of time but wasn't ready for an additional 15 minutes and to start with the was no apology given for the delay. The order was the egg roll & soup special (selected egg drop) and large order of Mongolian beef. Multiple issues with the order - never have I known an egg drop soup to have carrots and onions however this place had them, I chucked it to maybe that's their spin on it, half way thru there is what looks to be chicken since I wasn't sure of what meat it was I no longer continued to have the soup.
Now we come to the Mongolian beef, for a place called the silk road you would think they would know to season their food, unfortunately must be some byway because it lacked spices.
I definitely won't be going back. The one thing I will say is that the location looked pretty.
Oh and no sauce provided for the egg roll or soy sauce...
Read moreAfter more than 5 years since I've been here, food is still great! Spicy chicken is still very tasty (though still not spicy enough but good) and orange chicken is got that bit of spice but nice sauce, better than Panda's orange chicken, slightly less sweet and a bit more savory. And the rice is just right, though sticky rice is my bread and butter. Less crew here, probably due to COVID but still out in no time, with the same pretty lady who's been there for more than 10 years - familiar eyes, one would know being a customer for years there.
If I'm back in downtown, I'll be back there again!
Yeah, it's Americanized Chinese food but it's tasty to me! Back from the old days of marketing research and trading companies. Brings back mostly good memories and a few bad - I got my eye on you Margie, Al,...
