I visited Tortazo at Willis Tower before my 6:30 pm Skydeck reservation, arriving at the restaurant around 5:35 pm. I was a bit worried about timing, but my server, Julian, was incredibly helpful. When I asked how long the food would take, he said 5 to 10 minutes—just enough time to enjoy a meal without rushing.
I had a few questions about the menu—specifically the VG and V labels—and Julian clearly explained that VG means vegetarian and V means vegan. That cleared things up and helped me choose quickly. He placed the order right away.
My phone was about to die, and when I asked if I could charge it, Julian pointed out a set of outlets under the bar. Thanks to that, I was able to charge from 20% to 80%, which let me take beautiful photos at the Skydeck.
Another server, Terry, also made me feel welcome by bringing water as soon as I sat down. The whole team was friendly and attentive.
I highly recommend Tortazo to anyone visiting the Skydeck—especially vegans or vegetarians looking for a quick, tasty bite beforehand. Great service, thoughtful staff, and a very...
Read moreAs someone born and raised in Mexico City, I've always been a huge fan of tortas. I grew up enjoying them, and even now, I ask my dad to make them every once in a while. I was excited to try the tortas here after reading the reviews, hoping they could compete with the ones back in Mexico. However...
I am disappointed. I've watched many of Rick Bayless' TV shows, and he always emphasizes traditional flavors and cooking methods in Mexican cuisine, but it seems as if these tortas did not follow that. While I understand this restaurant is in the U.S. and likely wants to attract American customers, the torta I tried was not very good. It was excessively sweet, with some sort of coleslaw topping that was overpoweringly sweet. Additionally, traditional Milanesa tortas have a thin chicken breast, but this one had a massive chicken breast that reminded me more of a hamburger than a torta. To top it off, the sauce was also overly sweet.
I wouldn't come back here. :/
And before I forget, it is also expensive: $20 for one torta and a...
Read moreLet me first of all tell everyone about two amazing women at the Willis Tower location. I thought I had left my satchel bag and these two women, Jolelyn and Cristina who went above and beyond to help me. They went as far as contacting their manager Melissa to review the cameras. It was determined that I had left my bag down at security for the Sky Deck. I had already toured the Sky Deck and didn’t realize I didn’t have my bag with me the entire time. They reviewed the cameras and it was determined that I had my bag when I initially left the restaurant. I couldn’t say enough about these to extraordinary women. In my time of distress, they were very polite and wanted to do anything they could to help me. Something you don’t see everyday. As a tourist, I am more than appreciative of the efforts these three women made that day. Beyond this act of kindness, the restaurant was clean and Joleyn and Cristina were constantly staying busy working and tending to customer needs. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am forever grateful...
