An instant hit on Halstead. Plenty of space for strollers, so very kid friendly (the place was full of young families). No reserved seating, you order at the counter and are given a buzzer. Seating is first come first serve. Food wise the burger is just as good as anything you’ll find in the area. The fries are hot and crispy and they give you plenty of sauce. Definitely ask for the garlic aoli. Also, their ice cream is hard dipped and reasonably priced, they’re going to give Anette’s a run for their money especially since Jenni’s ice cream closed down. Only call outs are the drinks are pricey for what it is (pre made). And, No TVs for sports.

Small cheval used to have a great burger. No more. They changed the bun, no matter what they are saying, the buns are not what they used to be. Now they are always dry and kinda stale. It takes a very long time to get your order here, the tables are FILTHY, but they still ask you to give a tip when you place your order, BEFORE you got your food and BEFORE you could asses whether a tip is earned or not. Shame.

As you can see I ate all my food before I took the picture. I ordered a double cheeseburger with all the fillings and my friend got a single. We shared fries. Additionally we had a strawberry milkshake and a strawberry cheesecake concrete. I just wish there was a little more patty to my bun. Besides that it was cooked to a perfect medium and seasoned well. The toppings didn’t overtake the flavor either.

Gluten free fried chicken tenders - something that I never thought I could have again as someone with celiac disease. My friend who can eat gluten tried them and she said they tasted like any normal really good chicken tenders. This is a must stop place for anyone with celiac disease. They have so many options, including gluten free burger buns. The staff took my dietary restrictions so seriously. I shared an order of fries with a friend who does not have celiac disease (yes they are celiac save, fried in a separate fryer!) and when our order was given to use the fries were on my tray, not the tray with my friend's regular burger so they were completely save for me to eat! Also their boozy milkshakes...

Take it or leave it. It is really difficult to find a place in Chicago that just does a good old fashioned hamburger…cheese, pickles (not pickled onions or whatever), ketchup and mayo so I was excited to try SC. Unfortunately the cheeseburger was average so this won’t be my go to for a hamburger. Fries were bland and cold which was probably bc delivery time was 3x the pickup time and the chocolate shake was not for me. I think they use a powder and it reminds me of nestle we used to put in our milk in the 90s. The fried chicken strips were good though and my cats would agree since they ate...
