Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea — Restaurant in Chicago

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Creative and unique menu that does all the coffee shop staples well, but also isn't a Starbucks clone. The affogatos and seasonal drinks are always a great treat, and the variety makes it a novel experience every time.

The layout is a bit weird. Despite not having too many tables, it feels very cluttered, and if more than one person is waiting for a drink it becomes chaos at the bar. Lots of "Oh, sorry... 'scuse me... I need to sneak by..." from both customers and staff. There's literally nowhere in the restaurant to stand that isn't blocking doors or standing directly next to someone's table.

That said, the outdoor patio is great for people watching in the warmer months, and the staff do a great job with keeping the place clean and chill.

The team behind the counter make the experience, though. They're knowledgeable about their products, and they pay attention to detail. They have genuine concern for respecting dietary restrictions, and will happily make suggestions and recommendations.

Additional Review on 12th Sep I visit here again with my friend today because I was satisfied with last experience at this Cafe and I wanted to drink Macha latte what i like. So I ordered Macha latte but the taste is totally different with before. As you can see the 3rd (2month ago) and 4th(Today) pictures, Macha latte colors are different and today's latte is too waterly. Not only mine, My friend ordered Milk tea, It's also too mild and waterly. I'm so sorry to my friend and I think it should has consistency.

This place is highly rated and I am not sure if being there maybe plays a role but my review is for delivery , and it was kind of basics but I was blown out of the sweet waters .

The packaging was good, I ordered coffee , bagel , and croissant.

The coffee was alright , the bagel was good and it is what saved the day because unfortunately the croissant was below standards a bit kind of stale and just like all croissants made this way they don’t have much chocolate. I hope to visit one day and the rating would increase but on food alone it’s not more than 3 stars - it’s good for on passing by and you need a pit stop because it’s on the way but I would not get out of my way to go there. I hope my opinion changes if I visit there and try...
