Food is good, I like their fish tacos and queso. I'd like to try the tuna "ceviche" although it looks more like poke or tartare - it looks good whatever it is!
My issue is the service. I came in today for lunch around 2pm, so past peak lunch ordering time. I waited in line behind one other person and placed my to go order at 1:58pm. (I know because I considered whether to wait a few more minutes for happy hour, also I paid through the LEYE app) I waited for about 20 minutes then asked the person who took my order about the status. She said I was next even though at least five other people who came in after me were already gone. I figured my order got misplaced or something. Whatever, I'm fine, I can wait as long as it's in now. Ten more minutes go by and nothing, although I can see a few takeout bags that have now been placed on the counter at the other side of the restaurant. I eventually walk over, check the names and see one is mine so I take it and leave. I walked out at 2:34pm so I spent a total of 36 minutes on a takeout order of nachos. (See pic) They had to dump chips in a container, pour on pico and cheese, and put queso & guacamole in containers. For 36 minutes. I'm not usually one to complain (check my reviews!) But this was a bit ridiculous. If you're that understaffed hire more help or redo your scheduling, but I can't imagine that the other 5+ people who came in after me but got their food before me had less...
Read moreOrdered carry out for lunch today, and my sister ordered 2 fish tacos, 1 shrimp taco, 1 steak taco, and 1 brisket taco for the two of us, and it reflected as such on the receipt she was given. Except that when we got back to eat, there was only 1 fish taco and no shrimp taco anywhere to be found, and instead we were given two mystery tacos that we think were chicken and pork, but most definitely not the tacos we had asked for. I’m usually understanding about these sorts of mixups, but the place was absolutely empty when we came in, so there was really no excuse for completely butchering two of only five tacos that we ordered. Not to mention we picked the shrimp and fish tacos because they were listed as the “top choices” on the menu, yet for whatever reason the cooks had a very difficult time actually getting them right on an incredibly slow day. Alas, we ate the tacos anyways as we did not feel like walking back to the restaurant, but let me tell you, they were nothing special. I noticed another reviewer compare the guacamole to jewel brand guacamole that comes in a plastic tub, and I’ve gotta say that’s pretty spot on. The ingredients did not taste particularly fresh, and for almost $4/taco, it’s just not worth it. There are far better places to go spend your money for a quality taco that you...
Read moreThis Earthy taco joint is for tech savy neat freaks and germaphobes who love food that packs a punch of flavor. Dine in or delivery is an organized and flavorful experience to remember. Every little detail is well thought out from the balance of flavors and drink pairing down to the contactless ordering and designated take out station. If there were an award for best salsa, quesadilla and cleanliness they would win by a longshot! If you can't handle the heat, don't order salsa verde. The beef quesadilla's are good, but the chicken nachos and chicken quesadilla's are excellent. The difference here is the marinade; it really shines through the chicken which leaves the beef in comparison tasting a little gamey but if that's your thing, enjoy. Kudos to the chef for nailing the balance of salt, fat, acid and heat when preparing the chicken. If you prefer paper menus or table service this place isn't for you. Everything is handled via QR code. I recommend ordering an ice cold glass of hibiscus lemonade, but don't drink it until your food arrives, it goes together so on it's own you may be left wanting. The have indoor and al fresco dining. Tallboy tends to keep indoors chilly so I recommend grabbing a seat on the patio....
