I was in here earlier with friends, and as I was waiting for my drink, I overheard an employee talking to an older woman who I assume is the owner or manager. The employee kept mentioning that there was something in the blender, possibly glass, though Iām not entirely sure.
I saw my smoothie being poured into a cup when the employee went over to the sink, checked the blender, and immediately told her boss not to serve it. She quickly made me a new one instead. Huge shoutout to that employee for catching it, because she was clearly looking out for customer safety, but the whole experience really shook me.
As a DePaul student, Iām in the Loop often and have stopped by this location several times. What concerns me even more is that Iāve seen the girls who work here regularly get harassed by random people on the street, including unhoused individuals, while theyāre handing out samples. With all the random acts of violence happening downtown lately, this feels incredibly unsafe for both employees and customers.
The fact that it was the employee, not the boss, who prevented me from drinking something potentially dangerous says a lot. It really seems like the staff care more about safety than management does. Between this incident and what Iāve witnessed outside the shop, I donāt feel comfortable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm vegan & the person at the front we talked to was super nice and helpful answering our qs and helping us figure out what's vegan!! The menu (both the printed ones and the digital kiosk menu) do not have vegan labels, so it's super unclear what's vegan or not. Overall, seems like the tea lattes, some of the slushes, and the fresh milks can be made vegan. They have soy, oat, and another plant milk I forgot which is really nice!! I love when places have soy milk. Unclear if milk tea is vegan - I didn't ask, but if they use the same "non-dairy creamer" a lot of milk tea shops use, then it probably isn't vegan/has a milk derivative in it lolz The soymilk pudding is also vegan, although the soymilk foam weirdly isn't according to staff? We got the soy milk black tea latte w the soymilk pudding & it's really good!! The tea is brewed well - strong flavor, rich, and not bitter:) The soymilk pudding is yummy. Prices are pretty good, the place is super cute, and the staff are really nice!! It's also cool that they had a discount for Pride month. Anyways Uni Uni management, if you read this review: it would be so awesome if you could label the menu with what's vegan, so I (and other vegans) can order without worry:)...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI loved the milk tea spot that was here before (Vivi), so I decided to give this new place a try. Itās decent, but not something Iād go out of my way for. I ordered the lychee green tea latte with aloe, flavor was okay, but they were pretty light on the aloe. With a non-dairy upcharge (50Ā¢) and the add-on ($1), plus tip, it came out to just over $10.
The staff seemed friendly, though they were chatting amongst themselves and not very attentive to customers. They have a stamp card where your 10th drink is free, but I only found out because I noticed it on the counter and asked, otherwise it probably wouldnāt have been offered.
Overall, itās an okay milk tea spot, but nothing memorable enough to make me go out of my...
