It’s very unfortunate that I have to write such a review. The food is fantastic I have been coming here for 3 years and have never had an experience like this. I was so excited to come and dine here alone to celebrate a big personal accomplishment in life. I decided to sit at the bar. I came in around 9:20 and ordered a drink and took my time to enjoy myself. I then ordered the miso soup and it was fantastic. After on other drink I decided to order an appetizer and two sushi rolls. The bartender asked me if I would like it to come all together and I said yes (considering the restaurant closes in about 30 minutes). While I’m waiting for the food I see the bar back drinking an entire bottle of corona and I see the bartender drinking a clear liquid from a rocks glass (only used to serve liquor). The appetizer then comes out without the sushi rolls and I decided to give it a moment. I’m very understanding considering I’ve worked as a busser and server in the industry for 7 years. I’m very aware of my surroundings in a restaurant. After 20 minutes the sushi had still not arrived and I started to become upset considering the restaurant was clearing out and nearly empty. In the meantime I’ve seen the bar back lean against the wall and chug yet another corona very casually as if it was normal and acceptable behavior. After 25 minutes the bartender comes out with my sushi and at that point I asked for the sushi to go. Although he gave me a free drink he did not acknowledge the problem or even apologize after I made it known I was upset (he was clearly intoxicated). I asked for the bill and he proceeded to still charge me for everything and took zero accountability. This was a very special night for me and I was so upset but still tipped 10% which I have never done before. I then talked to the manager who ensured me he would make this up and took my name and number and it has now been 4 days and no one has reached out to me. I’m incredibly sad to depart ways with this restaurant and disheartened to write such a review. But there should be a standard of service in every restaurant and they failed this night. This was one of the first restaurants I dined at when I moved here to Chicago and I’ve dined with them over 30x. Read moreUpon walking in one of the servers said "2?" I said, yes. She then points to a table and says there. Not busy I kinda thought it wasn't very welcoming, but sat anyway. We waited for menus and even had time to watch a 13 min 24 second video before that sat another couple menus and all and had there drinks served to them! I spoke u ppl and asked for menus and we had them for maybe 2 minutes before the server comes back over and says "you know what you want?" And not really in a nice tone. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and meals. We got the soup along with our dinners, buutttttt... no appetizers! We finished our meals before she came over cleared the plates not once checking on how the meal was and STILL forgetting our apps. I mention it to her and she tried to say we e didn't order apps when I said yes ma'am we did and repeated our order, I think it clicked! She then says oh, yes coming right up! We get them (at this point was over the apps) it my daughter had been dying for a sushi date. When we get the apps there could and the 11 year old wouldn't even eat them. That's when you know it bad! Read moreI did not have a good experience at this restaurant, particularly with the service. From the beginning, no one attended to our table until I got up and asked if someone could serve us, as we were waiting to order.
The server assigned to our table was inappropriate, often throwing dishes around. Our water jug remained empty for a long time until I requested a refill. The dish I ordered, mushroom ramen, had a terrible smell. Initially, I thought the odor was coming from a nearby restroom, but it turned out to be my food. The smell was so bad that everyone at our table felt nauseous. I had to ask for it to be replaced, even though I was really craving ramen.
I replaced it with sushi, which was good, but the poor service ruined the dining experience. The price was high for the level of service provided. We were charged extra for a spoonful of sauce and an additional 2% surcharge.
