Corner Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in Chino Hills

I have always loved corner bakery, but this location needs major improvement. I have never written a review before but after multiple bad experiences here, I couldn’t help myself. Today was the last straw for me, I ordered a pick two, an iced coffee and a Bundt cake in the case. I have worked in the food industry for years, and their process there is unacceptable. I ordered my food at 3pm, it was setting on the line ready within 5 minutes. That’s great right? Well it was suddenly 3:30. My food was done and after I asked if everything was okay since they never brought it to me.. and people after me already got their food, they said they were waiting on my coffee. As a former barista, I know what an espresso machine looks like. It is right beside the checkout line and no one once went over there. The girl who was supposed to, I saw her near the cooks on her phone. It isn’t just her, it’s been every single time. Someone after me with a party of 5 already had their meal , and so did someone before us just by 1 minute. They finished and had left! This isn’t just a once time experience, it has been every time. It’s sad to see one of my favorite restaurants be this way. All of the employees are goofing off and are mainly young. The hiring manager was there today as well as what looked like an assistant manager, and how they did not recognize how awful the service was today is beyond me. I’m 24, so I’m not being an old judgy geezer, it’s just been unacceptable. I really hope management can fix this issue because if you walk into this location, most customers are annoyed the long wait line for a simple half sandwich and soup that’s already on the line. And waiting on my coffee? As the excuse? She never made it and never went over there once. Every time I go I have to go ask for something. Please, train...

ONE STAR IS ONE TO MANY

I am not one to review restaurants but when you eat at a place that is this bad the general public should be warned, or at least given the opportunity to spend their money at a place that will give you something worthy of eating. We were there as a party of 10 witch included two toddlers. The toddlers ages 2 and 3 each had a bowl of pasta which was buttered. I ordered the Meatball pannini approximately 9 dollars, the "pannini" consisted of I would estimate two meatballs which had been sliced approximately 1/8 inch thick and laid in a single layer on some sort of dry bread which had been pressed in a pannini press. In this "sandwich" was a very little splatter of what is described as marinara sauce. Basically what I was sold was two slices of dry bread pressed with "pannini" grill marks. This thing was the worst food item that I have ever spent money on. In our party of ten we ordered unfortunately three of these of which one ate. My wife ordered the mac and cheese, this sounds great but where is the cheese, the toddlers pasta and butter had more flavor and was moister than the Mac and cheese that was delivered to my wife. I realize that this is a franchise and they prepare the food as per the franchise standards so that takes one wonder how Corner Bakery is even in business. The food here is nothing but reheated SYSCO DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!! With any luck corner bakery will close and stop stealing...

My family were the first customers in the restaurant this morning. Place was pretty dirty, especially the trash can area. Went to clear my plates and set the tray on top of the trash can and it had crumbs, food pieces and other sticky stuff (sauces, ketchup etc) all over it. I probably wouldn’t have noticed or cared if we were there after the lunch rush but we were the first ones in so it was likely left from the night before. Our table was decently clean but as I left I noticed some of the other tables appeared dirty (tabletops and seats).

Customer service was lacking. After I ordered I noticed something on the menu that i wanted to add to my order. We asked the cashier if we could add it but was told no because it would have to be added as you order and she had no way to just add it on its own.

Food was decent and the cold brew coffee was good.

This is the first and last time we will visit. If the dining room is any indication of how they clean the restaurant I can only imagine what the kitchen...
