Around 930am on Sunday, Dec. 4, I went to Del Taco #896, located in 4053 Grand Ave., Chino, CA for breakfast. As an Epic Level Del Taco app user, the program allows me to have a medium sized iced coffee each morning. Given that I have encountered functional issues with the app in the past, I intentionally demonstrated to the cashier that the iced coffee coupon was not migrating to the QR code scanning screen for redemption upon selection from the Rewards tab as would usually be the case. Instead, an error message appeared. I attempted this same function several times without success, each instance yielding the error message. I then drew the cashier's attention to the Del Taco breakfast poster displayed on the wall which clearly states that a medium iced coffee is available to those who use the Del Taco app.
When my order was called, my request for the iced coffee was met with some resistance and in the end she did not offer me the complementary iced coffee. Despite my years of loyal business and my attainment of Epic-level status, I was denied the free iced coffee that is a standard feature of the Del Taco app program. I have been attended to by this employee numerous times in the past because I have been a repeat customer at this Del Taco branch site for years now. For an item worth $1.69, she devalued my customer loyalty and sided with a technical error that was not my fault. I do not recommend coming to this Del Taco branch to anyone. 12/08/22 Update: The company reached out to me this morning via email with an apology for not providing a great experience during my visit last Sunday morning. My feedback was considered and relayed to the branch restaurant's manager and supervisor (who I believe was the one who raised the conflict in the first place). They will pursue follow-up actions to ensure the situation will not happen again. (AKA: SHE WAS TALKED TO!!!! Ha, ha!!! Well, with the resistance I received that day, she deserves it....)
I was awarded with a guest voucher to spend on another visit, but I'll be sure to redeem it at another branch. Perhaps over time I will return to the 4053 Grand Ave. Del Taco, but for now, I will consider other places. I'm satisfied that the Del Taco corporate office handled this in a just and...
