*Dine-in, Fri. 9/6/24
We’d heard of this new sushi restaurant which had only been open for 1 week already. Showed up for dinner on Fri. ~7pm. There were people waiting before us so we put our name down and I asked the host (I assume the owner) what the wait time looked like and he was dismissive (waved his hand in my face to indicate he couldn’t answer right then). *I understand that they’re busy because they’d just opened and still getting things together, but that showed me that the assumed owner doesn’t communicate well. I decided to stay and wait for however long the wait would be, thinking maybe the host/owner just made a mistake being disrespectful and to give them a chance.
The wait was 15min and the host/owner gathered my party and 1 other party at the same time to seat us, but was confusing for both the parties. Neither party understood what the host/owner was trying to tell us or where to go.
We were sat, decided our food choices, and we’re ready to order, but it had taken a while for a server to come see us. Finally one came and we ordered. Food came and was good, not great, but doesn’t mean it was bad. It was just sushi, like all the other sushi restaurants. My partner knows sushi much better than I and she confirmed the sushi was normal. (We’d ordered 4 different rolls and 3 sushi types).
We finished up and left, but we never really knew who our server was. All of the servers were running around and helping each table. The servers were very nice, but they were running around like chickens.
Overall, our experience at this restaurant was ok. I didn’t appreciate the host/server at all, but again, I understand it was their 2nd weekend and they’re still getting the hang of things. I won’t say I won’t come here again. I figure I’ll let the water settle, try again in 6mo’s and see if they have everything...

Read moreSake2me AYCE Sushi in Chino is a brand-new location that just opened up a couple months ago. It's in a large commercial complex with many surrounding department stores, restaurants, and coffee shops.
I went on a weekend to try the AYCE menu for $39.99/person. The first thing we noticed was how big the menu is - every appetizer imaginable, along with skewers, carpaccio, nigiri, premium sushi options (toro, salmon belly, yellowtail belly, jumbo scallop - 1 order/person), every roll imaginable, including 8 different no-rice roll options. The menu was overwhelming to be honest!
We tried the carpaccio, the premium sushi options, and then just ordered a bunch of nigiri (salmon, unagi, etc.). The rice portions were nice and small for the nigiri, which was nice of them to do so that we could try a wide variety of different fish. We also got the hamachi kama, which is a must order. We ordered the Sake2me special roll as well, in honor of the name of the restaurant. I wish they did some of those in half rolls though!
We barely got through 10% of the menu, so perhaps another trip to Sake2me is in the books soon. I'll probably go for lunch next time because it's only $32.99 and the only thing you can't get is the carpaccio in the non-dinner menu. Service is incredibly attentive at this location - they cleared out empty plates quickly and were always checking up on us. The food would come out quickly and we were surprised at how much staff there was!...
