Updated review below.
Original review from September 15, 2022: My experience at the Boardwalk at Millenia so far has been an absolute nightmare. I was given an apartment filled with hundreds of roaches. Two weeks after my move in date I still have not been able to unpack my stuff. Everything has had to be moved multiple times because we've had to continuously spray the apartment - twice so far in 2 weeks.
In addition to all the roaches I am also dealing with loud noise from the neighbors upstairs who have a 1 year old toddler. Because of the structure of these apartment every time the toddler walks my apartment shakes and rattles.
The apartment rented to me should have never been rented out to anyone. This apartment would require serious treatment before anyone should be allowed to rent it. AFTER I MOVED OUT THE APARTMENT WAS IMMEDIATELY BACK ON THE MARKET BEING RENTED OUT WHILE STILL FULLY INFESTED WITH HUNDREDS OF ROACHES!!!!
Update - October 4, 2022: After speaking with management, they allowed me to move to another unit in a different building and on the 3rd flood. The new unit only had 2 roaches and 2 spiders in it when I first moved in which to me (and compared to the previous unit) is pretty "clean". It's also relatively very quiet and it's nice that I'm not having to deal with any noise from upstairs because I'm on the top floor. They also did reimburse me for the 2 weeks of hell they put me through and the additional moving costs which was nice of them. Overall, management was very professional and handled everything in a timely manner.
All those issues aside, this is a great little community with so many different shops and restaurants within walking distance that you'll never be bored. And the gym is actually quite decent for an apartment community gym - in fact, it's the best one I've seen in all the Otay Ranch apartment communities I toured before I moved in here.
Update - November 7, 2024: I have officially moved out of the Boardwalk apartments. It was not a bad place but as others have mentioned Greystar is one of the worst/greediest companies out there. Insane and unreasonable rent increases just because they can. Since I was on a month to month contract they decided to raise my rent by $500 for a 1 bedroom. With utilities and everything it comes out to almost $3,600. Now that I've moved out, my apartment is back on the market renting out for $2,600. That's quite literally the definition of robbery. I moved to a new place but I made sure that during my apartment search I avoided Greystar like the plague and I suggest you do the same. It's irrelevant how nice the community and the apartment may be. Once you've moved in, they'll charge you whatever they want. They do that with all their apartments. It's a computer generated price, it's not even a human coming up with these numbers, and the computer is told to maximize the price to the highest legally allowed value.
Another example of reckless charges would be the $80/month they charge for trash. I mean, who does that?? It's $55 for basic trash waste and then $25 for valet trash (required if you live here). This place is basically for people who don't care if their rent is $3k or $6k. It makes no difference to them.
Massive shoutout to the maintenance team! These guys are absolute superstars. I've never lived at a place where requests were almost always handled the same day and if not then...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMoving in, this place would have definitely been a 5 star review, but after living here for 9 months itās gone completely downhill. The only plus here are the community amenities; gym, pool, club house which gave them the one star. Besides that, thereās nothing else good I have to say. Right after moving in we realized we are living above someone that have different suspicious people in and out of their home all day and all night, leaving shopping carts in the walkway or in front of the stairs making it difficult to get by. Also leaving their trash everywhere. Shortly after realizing this, we got a new neighbor RIGHT next door to us thatās causing the same exact issue but more chaotic and extremely noisy all throughout the night. Someoneās always knocking on their door then shortly after will come knocking on ours asking where they are as if weāre supposed to know⦠(strange behavior) Thereās ambulance and police in and around our building every other day it feels like, because of all the unnecessary drama happening all around.. which is again.. strange.. Now more recently within the past couple of weeks I woke up and heard water leaking which was coming from the light fixture over the counter???? Which had obviously been happening for a while because there was a HUGE puddle covering our floor. I wish I could attach the video but unfortunately I cannot and video screenshots do not do show the severity in how inconvenient this was. Not something ideal to wake up to⦠I will say though, maintenance did come correct the issue promptly but for us to be paying so much to rent a 1 bedroom APARTMENT these issues should not be occurring in the first place. Now, to the fun part⦠we have now had mice infest our home.. Weād hoped it would only be one (which Iām aware is a big hope) after informing maintenance and it being caught with the sticky traps they provided but it seems it just wonāt end.. all theyāve done is come in and put down more sticky traps.. they told us they would locate any holes from where they could be coming from and close them up but that evidently wasnāt done. This has absolutely and 100% been an insane nightmare having to deal with and I canāt wait for this lease to be over and done with. And donāt come and leave me a ChatGPT apology response to this review either.. I donāt want it. FIX & PREVENT...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHello my name is Donica Carabajal. I want to share a little bit of my response and give this complex a great review actually an amazing review. First I'll say that this is the first apartment complex that I looked at upon my apartment searching and I searched many apartments in Chula Vista area El Cajon area La Mesa Spring Valley. I'll share a little bit about myself cuz I'm pretty transparent with my life I am in recovery I am a single mom I'm a full-time student so you know adversity hits everybody it's part of life. You know poor choices in the past don't Define me and anyone else in life it's what we do about it and we move from it and we get into the solution. I've been blessed my life to have a little bit of help with my housing but I also knew that my credit history in the past was a mess today it's it's hard to find genuine helping people that want to help families with their Journey in their relevation and their testimony of changing their life living in a different way and progressing forward. I found that exact genuineness and openness and willing to help with the leasing department and the apartment complex here at Boardwalk. Not only was Faith Fox and Victoria willing to help out show me the place be my cheerleader on the side to help me get into this complex for me and my child they made the process very smooth hopeful and grateful that I chose them as a complex. I can't wait to start my journey here and in fact I referred to other people that probably will be renting in this complex as well in the future best regards and job well done to the leasing agent here and the...
