El Pollo Grill - Bonita — Restaurant in Chula Vista

BEWARE!! This place does not accept Cash as Legal Tender as they refused to accept my 50$ bill for an order I placed over the phone for 37$. This is absurd considering they are in an affluent neighborhood. I can see the Market Creek location doing that before they went out of business but not here in Bonita or the Otay Ranch location for that matter. As a business owner myself I understand certain policies and procedures are in place to protect the business assets. With that said the times we have made changes to such policies involved customer feedback as long as they did not deter from the objective. In this case my review is for the business owners and the policy. Both the cashier with the blue hair and the lady manager refused to even look at my 50$ bill. They weren’t rude or anything but they had to follow the “rules” Loosing me as your customer and many others for that matter over Legal Tender. There is tons of places to choose from when deciding where to eat and customer service is key as a competitive advantage. As a previous bank employee one way to check for authenticity of bills is to look for the red and white fibers in the paper. Also look for the watermark matching the face of the bill and feeling the bill for texture in the print as they use a master plate in printing. All of these are acceptable, if the bill does not pass the test then I understand why they would decline accepting it. In this case my bill was never touched or even looked at. Update: 8/26/2017: Another perfect order. I ordered my half chicken plate and my wife ordered a couple of tacos. The food quality, flavor and quantity is excellent no matter if we eat at the restaurant or we have it delivered via Uber eats. Highly recommended. Update: 3/28/2017: Today we ordered for the second time for from El Pollo Grill using Uber Eats and I can say that the experience was excellent not only on the food delivery side but the careful packaging from the restaurant. We ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla, a Carne Asada Burrito and Half a chicken with beans and rice + corn tortillas. The food was hot (because of the packaging) and delicious just as at the restaurant when we dine in. This is the third time we have eaten at this restaurant and I can truly say that it deserves more than 5 stars. The prices are reasonable, staff is friendly and helpful and the food that we have tried so far is delicious. First time here and the whole experience was awesome. They have very good service, even though they were busy they got my order out quick and the wait wasn't long. The staff is always smiling and very helpful. Their menu is huge, there is so much different plates and items to choose from. My wife and I eat the Pollo asado and carne asada fries, the plate had guacamole, cheese, sour cream, a lot of meat and a lot of fries. The plates were so big that we end up taking a to go plate for today's lunch. Their salsas are delicious, if you want some spice in your life they have it, they are not only got the salsas also have a lot of flavor. The place is really clean, they have vegetarian plates, in case you're on a protein diet they have all the protein you can eat. They also have desserts the Churros are to die for, nice and warm, sugary and with just the right amount of cinnamon. The place was clean, the service was nice and the food was delicious! They do have handicap area, plates for kids, you can eat in or to go. You can call ahead and they will have the food ready for you. They have a nice selection of drinks as well as beer and tortillas.
