Brasas Pancake House — Restaurant in Cicero

I had a very disappointing experience at Brasas. From the start, the service was unorganized and frustrating. I asked one waitress to take our order, but she refused and said someone else would — even though there were only two servers working the nearly full dining room. The wait to place our order was far too long. We arrived at 11am and left at 1pm, 2 hours I even saw another customer walk in, eat, and leave before our food ever arrived.

It felt like only one waitress was actually working, while the other mainly stood around chatting, picking up dishes, and organizing things. What made it worse was how differently we were treated compared to other tables. The waitress was enthusiastic and attentive with certain patrons, but dismissive and short with us. She even reached across me to grab plates without saying a word.

When our food finally came — almost an hour and a half later — the waitress explained that the chef had messed up our order. Even then, the food didn’t come out together, so some of us had to wait while others already had their plates. It completely ruined the meal, since we couldn’t even eat together after the wait. No compensation just a sorry 😐

The food itself was nothing special — mediocre at best — and definitely not worth the long wait or the bill for four people. Honestly, I’d get faster and friendlier service at the...

Update:2/19/22 haven't been eating out much due to covid but this weekend decided to go back to our neighborhood gem. Unfortunately they no longer had the pork chops on their menu so I ordered an omelet. They did not disappoint. The omelet had ham, tomatoes,peppers and cheddar cheese. It was huge. The fruit is always fresh as are the spring greens. It has gotten a little pricey but so has just about everyone else so I'll blame it on supply and demand.

Second time here, had eggs and pork chops for breakfast. It's served with 2 pork chops, 2 eggs any style, fresh greens salad, toast and hash browns or fruit bowl. I had the fruit. The pork chops were very juicy, greens excellent and the fruit was on point. Eggs are always good. I would go here again especially because anyone who knows me knows that I NEVER FINISH MY FOOD. What can I say except delicioso, I ate the whole thing......

Horrible experience I had breakfast with my partner and we both ordered skillets, pancakes and French toast. While ordering our food we asked about getting a side of pancakes instead of toast with one meal, the waiter told us it would cost 2.99 extra. I also didn’t like my french toast and asked if he could remove it for me. He told me that he has no complaints about the food and said he would take it off. When we got the bill we were charged the full price for the pancakes and the French toast that I didn’t eat and he took back. He didn’t budge at all, he did not apologize.
