5 stars for an authentic Mexican restaurant in Cincinnati!
When you arrive, make sure you park in the section closest to the restaurant. Otherwise, you're in the hotel's parking. If it's a busy night, don't worry: you can get a free hour of parking at the hotel lot.
We have sat both inside and outside. Our server, Ryan, was super attentive and accommodating. The margaritas are SO good - $8.75 for a (very) large size, in either frozen or on-the-rocks. They are so tasty AND so strong! They also have agua horchata and agua jamaica (traditional Mexican drinks and they're delicious), jarritos (bottled Mexican soda), beer, and soft drinks.
Every part of the experience here is great... but the highlight is really the food. I have tried many, many things on the menu: Tacos ($2.99) - in a variety of meats. Chicken, carnitas, and carne asada are my favorite. Served with handmade tortillas, cilantro and onion. This is the authentic and proper way to serve your tacos, with lime & radish on the side. Get the tacos, they're the best thing on the menu. Vegetable quesadilla - Again, a handmade, thicker tortilla and the freshest grilled vegetables. So indulgent and vegetarian-friendly. Camarones jalisco - Bacon wrapped shrimp, served with lettuce, refried beans and rice. Very good. El salmon veloz - High quality salmon prepared in a very flavorful way. Chipotle chicken - grilled chicken served with shrimp and a delicious sauce on top, with all the normal accompaniments. Corn - served hot with mayo, chile seasoning, cotija cheese and lime. So good!
Every meal comes with chips & salsa for the table as well.
They do carryout orders, doordash, ubereats and grubhub - there are many ways you can get your El Taco...
Read moreWorst experience of my life. We walked in to an empty restaurant. It took about 15 minutes before we even saw another person in this establishment. 4 employees emerged out of nowhere and took our drink order collectively at the same time. We placed our order after we received our drinks. After about 5 minutes we had a waitress come out and tell us she was sorry that our order was taking so long they only had one cook. Fast forward to when we received our check. We noticed that all the prices on the bill were wrong we asked the waitress if we could get this corrected. She scurried off to the back for quite a while then emerged with 4 other associates. They told us they used to have a manager at one point. That manager walked out and left the company. Another person came and bought the place out and changed the prices internally but never on the menu. All 4 waitresses said at the same time that all the prices are wrong on everything and they feel for us but since they no longer had a manager there was nothing the could do but they understood. We headed to the parking lot and we’re greeted by another guest. He told us his prices were correct. However, he received the wrong food. He stated he told the waitress what he got was not what he ordered. The waitress immediately corrected him and said this is intact what you ordered and ran off with no other explanation. We all laughed about it after but what in the hell is happening at this place?! Maybe we will never know! I WILL...
Read moreI recently visited El Taco Veloz before heading to Bogart's and unfortunately had a highly unsatisfactory experience. The issues began with a prolonged wait for margaritas, taking almost 20 minutes, prompting us to involve the manager. Regrettably, he displayed rudeness by cutting off my friend during our interaction and later, when I approached him to express our concerns about the check, he told me to calm down despite my relatively calm demeanor. I did say a few curse words out of frustration.
The food, delivered surprisingly faster than the drinks, left much to be desired with a disappointing rating of 2/10. The analogy of it resembling cat food captures the essence of our dissatisfaction. To worsen matters, our waiter neglected regular check-ins, refills, and even straws, leaving us to seek assistance for the check, which arrived only after my visit to the front to express our concerns.
Despite addressing the matter with the manager, who exhibited a lack of sympathy, we encountered a peculiar situation where he allowed us to leave without payment. However, the server contradicted this by presenting us with checks afterward, showcasing a significant lapse in communication.
In my opinion, El Taco Veloz could benefit from enhanced staff training and support. My hope is that by sharing this experience, the restaurant can address these issues and improve its overall...
