Three of us went to Red Feather last night (Wednesday). We had reservations for 6:45pm and arrived between 6:45 - 6:50pm. We were promptly seated at a 4 top table. I was happy to see that they weren’t very busy, only about 4-5 other tables had guests. Within a couple minutes our server came over, introduced herself and asked if we preferred tap water or sparkling water. We chose the tap water (we’re not very high maintenance). When returning with the water pitcher, she also brought us a drink, beer, and wine list along with a clipboard of about 6 entrees with vague descriptions. I was really kind of surprised that they had these menus which were very cheaply made and rather generic for such a high priced establishment. I ordered us a $100 bottle of Cabernet for the 3 of us (we were celebrating!!) and we also ordered a couple of appetizers. The wine came and shortly afterwards came the appetizers. No problems thus far. We sat, talked and enjoyed the wine and appetizers for about 20 minutes, we then had to flag down our server, (who was cute but not very attentive even though she only had 3 other tables, a total of 11 customers), and we ordered our dinner selections. We ordered Lamb chops, scallops, and a burger. This is when the difficulty started!! As I said, the restaurant was NOT very busy at all, (we could see both the entire main dining room, which was maybe 1/2 to 2/3 full, and the kitchen directly) but yet, it took over an hour to get our food!!! That is RIDICULOUS!!! They finally brought out our food and when I saw the plates, I was absolutely appalled!! Other than than the burger, which was actually a good size, and came with fries but, the scallops consisted of only 3 (2 bites each) scallops!!! And my lamb chops also were very small consisting of only 3 (2 bites each) chops and as a side, a mass of onion straws!!! (You are charging me HOW MUCH for this!!??) What ever happened to having a starch and a vegetable with your meat!!?? Don’t misunderstand me!! The food was prepared well, and was tasty BUT, there was nothing really very special about it, there was no WOW Factor, and, for the prices they charge, it should be MUCH better!! Well, obviously it did not take us long to eat, and we were still hungry!! We ordered, and ate dessert, which were tasty, along with coffee and cordials to finish off the meal. After it was all said and done, I think we spent more than $300.00 (wine included) and while that really is not the point. The point is that, if you are going to personify yourself as a “High End” restaurant, then BE a “High End” Restaurant!! Do NOT Cheapen the experience with very small portions, poor service and outrageous prices!!! Because of the OUTRAGEOUSLY Slow service by the server AND kitchen, we finally got out of there at 9:40pm. Almost 3 hours for a very simple, (not a 7 course) meal!!?? . . . Absolutely AMAZING!!! NOT in a good way!!! This place is ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!!! I am a good cook (not professional but . . . ) and, of the 3 entrees which we ordered, the one that would probably take the longest time to cook would be the burger, which should only take ~8 minutes, being cooked Medium Rare, NOT over an hour!! The coup d’état was when we exited the restaurant and realized that we had been totally permeated with the smell of the kitchen!!! Did they not have the hood fan working properly OR EVEN ON!!?? It was so bad that, even though I had just put on clean clothes from the dry cleaners not a few hours ago, I had to throw them back into the bin for the cleaners!! I smelled like I had just been sitting next to a McDonald’s grill OR WORSE for hours!!! NOT a $300.00 meal at a supposed “Fine Dining Restaurant”!!! If you want to WASTE YOUR MONEY and go away hungry, with a LOT of money out of your pocket, by all means, go here!! However, if you are somewhat Normal, TRUST ME!! You can do MUCH BETTER at MANY other places!! Try any of Jeff Ruby’s places, or one of my favorites, El Coyte’s In Anderson Twp., you get a LOT MORE for your hard earned money!!!
