Okay, let's be real – we all know what Popeyes is. It's not fine dining, but it's usually a solid bet for some crispy, flavorful fried chicken. My friend and I were looking for a cheap and easy dinner, and their $20 family meal deal caught our eye. For twenty bucks, we got a lot of food. Chicken, sides, biscuits... the whole shebang. The chicken was the usual Popeyes standard – crispy skin, juicy meat. No complaints there. The spicy chicken had a nice kick, though it could have been a bit spicier for my taste. The mild was good too, perfectly cooked. The sides were a bit of a mixed bag. The mashed potatoes were decent, though a little bland. The gravy was... well, it tasted like gravy. Nothing special. The mac and cheese was surprisingly good, creamy and cheesy. Definitely a highlight. The biscuits were a little dry, which is pretty typical for Popeyes, unfortunately. They crumbled easily and needed a lot of butter. Now, here's where things get real. The service was a little slow, even though they weren't that busy. And they forgot our dipping sauces! We had to go back and ask for them, which was a minor annoyance. Also, the restaurant itself wasn't the cleanest. Some of the tables needed wiping, and the floor could have used a sweep. But hey, for $20, we fed two people and had leftovers. It's hard to argue with that value. Popeyes is what it is – a fast food joint with good fried chicken and hit-or-miss sides. If you're on a budget and craving some crispy chicken, it's a decent option. Just don't expect a gourmet experience. Would I go back? Probably. It's cheap, it's filling, and sometimes you just need that fried chicken fix. Pro-tip: Check your order before you leave! Especially if you're getting sides and sauces. And maybe grab some extra napkins, because things can get greasy. Also, the mac and cheese is surprisingly good....
Read moreI visited this new location recently while in the area, I had figured… new location, new building, new employees equals better service and boy was I wrong! Going through the drive through I ordered the 12 piece Family meal (all dark, all spicy) and was told that it would be a 12 minute wait, and to pull into a parking spot. After waiting over 25 minutes my order was finally bought to my car and I drove home to Lumberton, some 20 minutes away. Once home I discovered that rather than having a 12 piece Family meal I had a 9 piece family meal! I immediately called the store and spoke to the manager on duty Jeremiah.
I explained to him what happened and to my disbelief he said that he would only replace the 3 piece of missing chicken. Mind you, in the not so distant past when this exact thing happened at another location they replaced the entire meal… everything, even the peppers.
I’m beginning to believe that this is a conspiracy going on with Popeyes, why is this happening so often, it can’t just be me that this has happened to, are the employees not able to count to 12, or is managements purposely holding back from customer orders hoping that they either won’t notice or...
Read moreThis is literally the best Popeye's around. I've been to most of every single location in South Jersey, and this location - both it's food and customer service - have made up for all of the bad food, messed up orders, attitudes and bad customer service that I received from everywhere else.
They never mess my order up and they are always friendly. I mean always! Even when they are about to close. They make everything just right too! This is what a Popeye's should be. This location has quickly turned Popeyes into my favorite chicken place. I literally couldn't say that before.
I eat Popeyes three times as much now maybe even four times as much as I used to because of this location as well as the recent deals that were offered by Popeye's. We recently had to move from Delran all the way out 40 minutes - leaving this Popeye's location behind was literally one of the saddest parts for us. Any time we are in the area we literally still stop by just because the food is so delicious crispy and perfectly prepared.
Great job guys! You should be training the rest of the...
