For the past year, I've been a devoted regular at this tucked-away gem. Amir, the owner and sole cook, prepares each meal with care and is generous with portions. Now, it's worth noting that this isn't fast food. Amir prepares each dish to order, ensuring its freshness by the time it is served to you. But trust me, the wait is well worth it. I have heard that Persians are known for their rice. One of the highlights here is the basmati rice—fluffy, aromatic, and a meal in itself. Somehow, I never get that regretful feeling of eating too much rice compared to regular white rice. For starters/appetizers, I highly recommend the hummus and Kashk O Bademjan, both are served with Persian bread, and the Shirazi salad. The hummus is smooth and creamy. Kashk O Bademjan has delicious roasted garlic that is topped with Iranian yogurt. The Shirazi salad is refreshingly crisp and a great appetizer if you’re seeking something on the lighter side. My go-to dishes here are the Fesenjan, which is intriguingly tart and savory since it is made with pomegranate molasses, and the koobideh (both chicken and beef). The koobideh is always moist, never dry or overcooked, and seasoned just right. The chicken kabab is another standout: juicy and tender enough to cut with your spoon/fork. Now, I'm not usually a fan of lamb due to its sometimes gamey flavor, but Amir's lamb dishes have completely won me over. The Lamb Barg, Lamb Shish Leek, and Lamb Shank Baghali Polo are all impeccably cooked, tender, and entirely free of that gamey taste. This restaurant also offers some American food options and affordable lunch specials.to include items like smoked tri-tip sandwich, buffalo wings (also available for dinner), rib-eye steak, and burger with fries. I've had the smoked tri-tip several times, and it's consistently outstanding. You really can taste the smokiness of the meat. The Buffalo wings, (8 pcs) are perfectly crispy with just the right amount of sauce. The 1/3 lb burger with fries, priced at just $7.99, is another great deal. The burger is hearty, with a perfect bun-to-meat ratio and fresh produce with cheddar cheese. If you have any room left, I also recommend the saffron rice pudding for dessert. I have never had anything like this before. While the dessert can feel dense, it is contrasted by a refreshing hint of rose water. Finally, wash your meal down with a nice hot glass of Persian tea. The owner and his wife truly care about serving you quality food. I am sure any dish you try, you will be greatly satisfied.

Let me preface this by saying, I don’t leave reviews. Good or bad, I typically wont take the time to comment on my experiences. This is an exception. The food here is outstanding. Authentic flavors and impressive portion sizes. I LOVE lamb and they do it right. Even something as simple as “plain rice,” is far from plain here… sooo tasty! My favorite part of dining here was the experience. Amir and his wife are warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about their food. They would come out and talk to us, share about the dishes and the complex flavors and ingredients. It is clear they take pride in preparing authentic dishes with authentic ingredients. Amir explained the process of one of the dishes and how many days it takes to prepare and the various locations he goes to in order to source the best ingredients. It’s annoying to read some of the negative reviews on here because they don’t feel valid or very fair. The price, for example. Food is not cheap. Period. Even crappy McDonalds is a minimum of $20-30 in one visit. And that food is garbage. At Persian Kabab & Grill, they aren’t taking shortcuts or compromising quality, which is so important. Not only that, their prices are VERY reasonable, especially considering what you get. Large portions, real ingredients, and the most wonderful company. Amir was so excited to share his experiences and cuisine, he brought out a large batch of pickles which I devoured. Even as we were leaving, his wife brought some dessert for us to try. Seriously the kindest and sweetest people. It’s worth trying this place just for their company and hospitality. The exceptional food is a bonus.

I don’t usually go out of my way to revisit restaurants, but six months after my first visit, I found myself making the drive from Fairfield to Sacramento just to eat here again—and it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. This time, I knew exactly what to get. I started with the Mast O Khiar—a chilled yogurt dip with cucumbers and herbs that’s refreshing and perfectly balanced. It’s the kind of starter that complements just about any main dish, especially those served with rice. For the main course, I didn’t hesitate: I went straight for the beef sultani—an unbeatable combo of filet mignon kabob and koobideh. But instead of standard rice, I requested their Baghali Polo—a fragrant green rice made with fava beans and herbs. Trust me, this rice is a must-try. It elevates the entire meal. While waiting, I enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere. Persian music played in the background while the news aired on a huge screen (seriously, it has to be 80 inches or more). The ambiance is warm and welcoming—whether you’re dining solo or bringing family. Once again, the food was spot on: grilled meats juicy and packed with flavor, rice perfectly fluffy, and those fire-roasted tomatoes added the right touch of smoky sweetness. This place is officially in my top favorites—and clearly worth the repeat
