Breaks my heart to have to leave a less than positive review for a business I have enjoyed at other locations.
To be clear, this is for a to-go order placed directly through their website.
Estimated wait time was about 35-40 minutes from when I completed my order. I arrived a few minutes early to find a fair amount of guests waiting to be seated. When I checked in at the front I was informed it would be another 20 before my order would be ready (1 small Tonkasu). No problem. I understand what it's like for a kitchen to be busy. So I bought a beer to sip while I waited. The girl who showed up behind me was also looking to pick up an online order and was told they would call her name when it was ready, so of course I thought they would do the same for mine. Over 30 minutes later with no update I followed up, and was handed my order.
13 minute drive home and I open it up to find cold everything. Now I understand that the egg and other toppings I ordered are sorted and packed separately for good reason, and that's not what I'm talking about. I mean straight out the fridge meat, solid yolk egg, ice cold caked noodles, and barely luke warm broth.
I waited over an hour and paid about $20 for a single small ramen and received something that was thrown together straight from the fridge and could've been ready in 2 minutes.
The drive, the effort, the time... this is all more valuable than the money spent. It is the combination of all these wasted that breaks my heart and fills me with disappointment.
While sure, as far as cold ramen goes, it wasn't bad... The issue is I waited over an hour for them to package cold ramen ingredients straight from their pre-made storage locations, when I could have heated a Costco pre-made for 1/6 of the price and none of the hassle.
Bottom line: don't...
Read moreMy friend and I were looking for something that opens late, but also different from the usual neighboring restaurants in the area, and came across this one. What first got me was that the seating arrangement was a little different from what I was used to. It looks like the bigger groups sat in the middle at the larger tables and the small couples sat along the windows on tall chairs. Seating overall is a little tight if you have a larger frame torso.
Something unusual for me with a menu item was this thing called the "Tsukemen" which is a dipping ramen. Whats that? So, Im at a different place i figured i also try something different on the menu, so I went for it. Compared with the usual Slurpin Ramen, they have the same topping option, but the Tsukemen only had one size, the regular ramen had a small and large serving.
I got the Fatty Pork option, and added an egg. My friend got the usual ramen bowl with the same Fatty Pork option, so not we have a basis of comparison. Although the Tsukemen Ramen only had one size and cost a little more, it had sizeably more noodles and soup. I actually like the Dipping Ramen option more now because I can choose to just eat the contents and keep the soup for later, or focus more on the soup and then the meats afterwards. It works for me and i may be getting that option more now. You pay a little more, but you also actually get a...
Read moreAhhh.... Ramen.... 10% noodles, 90% LOVE!! And we LOVE the Slurping Ramen Bar.
I have been fortunate enough to know what their smooth, creamy, milky, and super delicious Slurpin Ramen Tonkotsu broth tastes like. I no longer eat any meat offerings but, oh my goodness, this is a broth that knocks it out of the park! Let’s get your ramen on with and choose either their traditional chashu pork, chicken or tofu.
For the healthier conscious side of us, the bar serves up another home run with their vegan noodles with mushroom broth. Super delicious and with the all the hearty vegetables, it will certainly fill you up. Trust Me. It’s just a bowl of sunshine!
Tsukemen (dipping ramen) is also available with your choice of meat.
Extra noodles and all the extra extra toppings are also available ranging from $.50 cents to $5.00.
Don’t forget to try their delicious appetizers as well. My all time favorite is the crunchy, soft shell crab. I can eat this all day, everyday. Gyoza, fried squid legs, chashu bowls are just a few on the list.
Leave room for their macaron or tempura ice cream or take it to go. Also delish!
Mask and social distancing is enforced for this venue. Outdoor dining is also available but there is a wait especially if you go during peak times and weekends.
Enjoy the Slurping Ramen Bar and be...
