Pokelava Poke Bowl - Collegetown — Restaurant in City of Ithaca

Came here on a whim after getting sick of eating my own food. I used to get food from the dining halls, but now that I’ve moved off campus, it’s difficult for me to get a hearty, delicious meal because all my cooking tastes really bad and I always have stomach issues afterwards (don’t ask!!!!). The variety of options Pokelava offers is extensive and gratuitous, and the preset combinations, such as the one I got, Fireball (EEYOUCH!), are delicious and fresh. Whenever I run out of food in my fridge or I can’t bring myself to eat the food I have cooked for myself, i gleefully make my way to Pokelava for my poke bowl! I highly recommend it. Very tastey food! I got the salmon with ponzu bowl and it was full of interesting fresh flavors. The fish was lovely and they give you a really big scoop. I was surprised they gave you so much. They let you put in whatever toppings you want and give you generous portions of seaweed salad, fish roe and avocado (and anything else you could ask for). I got the zoodles (zucchini noodles) which I had never tried before but would recommend. The staff was very nice, efficient and helpful about recommending good flavor combinations. I've been to many poke bowl shops and like all of them, this one is amazing. The tuna is tender but not too tender and they give a sufficient amount. One little thing I really appreciated was the water machine. While most restaurants just serve you tap water when you want water, this place had a purified water machine which made the water taste a lot better. The absolute worst part of the restaurant was the smell; it literally smelled like the inside of a dirty restroom. It was so bad that I almost lost my appetite and left before even ordering.

In summary, if you're a fan of poke, this place won't disappoint, but don't plan on eating there due to the nauseating stench inside...
