Sal's Pizzeria — Restaurant in City of Ithaca

We order from Sal’s constantly! My family visits from another state and has to have a Sal’s special pizza everytime in town! We live here and order her twice a week! We ordered a Sal’s special and two dozen wings which is $50 or more in food and the bottom of pizza was so soggy you could not pick it up and wings were nearly raw! We ask for well done on pizza and wings the next week and received the same thing as week before! Called to complained about messed up over $50 order and recieved a free $8.50 sub to make up for over $50 unedible raw meal! Daughter and wife of owner Joe said they would take care of it and make things better! Then we order again after and daughter is rude and says they never said that and a s$8.50 sub is a good enough replacer for two over $50 messes up unedible order that we received from them! This is so sad since we usually love to order...

Sal's was not a great experience. The food kind of reminded me of public school cafeteria food. It was bland or just not good. The server was not are all personable and a bit abrupt. She never even wiped down the table we were sitting at. I got a fried fish sub and my girlfriend got an eggplant parmesan sub, and we shared an order of onion rings. The onion rings tasted like dirty fryer grease, not onion, so I was not very surprised when my friend fish sub tasted like dirty fryer grease as well. My girlfriend kept salting her eggplant so I asked what was up. The eggplant apparently had no flavor to speak of and the sauce tasted like plain tomatoe sauce out of a can. I can't in good conscience recommend that you go try it first yourself, not even as a bad joke, and we certainly won't...

This is an Ithaca gem! I'm from Buffalo and this is the closest thing we can get to Buffalo Pizza and wings. The crust is crispy, but has a slight chewiness. It has a great oven baked flavor and tastes so fresh (doesn't taste artificial). The sauce is amazing, not overly sweet or acidic. The cheese actually tastes like mozzarella and not fake cheese! The toppings are plentiful! The staff are top notch. They make everything to order, with whatever special cooking instructions or sauces you prefer, and make everything taste fabulous. The staff are very friendly, courteous, and efficient. They have a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. I love their family atmosphere and vibe.
