Many years ago, we ate here, and had a really negative experience. My wife has strict diet restrictions (Celiac) , we gave it another go, as other people with her same restrictions mentioned that they are really good with about maintaining a clean kitchen, and no cross contamination. I was extremely hesitant because the first time (about 11 years ago) was bad.

The Original Experience, to keep it short went like this. We arrived, and the wait staff hovered at our table waiting for us to decide on what we were going to have. Food was served, it was really good, but while we were eating the wait staff was RIGHT THERE... still hovering. We were then rushed out of the place, but when we go out onto the side walk, the wait staff we had followed us out asking where their tip was. Never had someone do that to me before, so It was super off putting.

Today's Experience:

I have to say that this visit blew me away. The service was excellent, even though there was a language barrier, the waiter was going through the ingredients he knew were in the different rolls and dishes to help out. When the food came out, my wifes was presented really well (she got several sushi rolls) and mine came out piping hot. (I opted for the Nabe Yaki Udon, which is a big bowl of ramen.)

My ramen was excellent and my wife was very happy and stuffed to the rafters with sushi. We left very happy, very full and I will be sure to visit that place again when we have a...

I've eaten here soooo many times I can't believe I've never written a review... even though, I've always recommended this place to people looking to Japanese Dining.

Place is small but cozy... can get pretty packed and experience can get dampened by other loud and possibly obnoxious diners but that's often beyond the control of the restaurant.

Street parking can be difficult as it's on a busy corner...

Food excellent, service excellent... there's really nothing more I can say. The prices have been competitive even when seemingly everything else in the world has gotten more expensive.

When the tea is good you know the place will...

I lived in the area 15 years ago for about five years and used to eat at Kyoto nearly once a week for the duration. I hadn’t been back since then, and expected as things usually go that the place I loved would have changed ownership and deteriorated.

I was luckily absolutely wrong! Same ownership, lovely service, cozy clean atmosphere, and FANTASTIC food. Best Japanese food in the Hudson Valley hands down.

I’ve eaten nabeyaki udon in many places (including NYC) since and it was never as good as it was at Kyoto. I got it again tonight and it was just as good, if not better. I’m so glad to have this restaurant...

Ordered sushi deluxe for pickup. Listed on their website saying it comes with soup and salad for 21.95, and it’s 18 pieces of sushi. I ask if they can make with brown rice. They say yes for an upcharge. Great. I get my meal, and there are 16 pieces of sushi, and no salad. They say that they hadn’t updated the website, so they can’t do anything. Can’t do anything? You could give me a salad and the other 2 pieces of sushi like your website says. And even on their new menu, it says you get both soup and salad. This will be a one time visit.
