On recommendation we came to this restaurant. We are a pretty diverse group of 4. We walked into an empty but clean and aesthetically pleasing dining room. We were told to sit anywhere and chose a table that seated 4. We were given a dinner special menu and I asked for the other menu along with a drink menu. We initially ordered calamari and our drinks which were an espresso martini and a cosmopolitan which were the best tasting thing there. Seeing that it was on recommendation we were told to try salmon bruschetta which was extremely fishy, like being extremely fishy. We. Pant est it at all. I went on a whim and decided to order something outside the box. I ordered a grill octopus and after my first bite decided it wasn’t for me. I explained to them that I didn’t like it and they just took it away. They didn’t asked if I wanted to substitute it for anything else so i assumed it would be taken off the bill. My son’s girlfriend ordered steak but it was in gravy and it tasted spoiled. Same issue, they took it away without offering a substitute. My son and his friend ordered a steak sandwich and some ribs and even tho they weren’t fans, the ate a few bites and pieces. We had to call them multiple times to explain to them why we didn’t like our meal and each time it took at least 15 minutes and 2 tries to get their attention. At this point we were ready to go. We asked for the bill and again they asked us why we didn’t like the meal, again we explained how it tasted and how it smelled. They unfortunately charged us for everything that was ordered and even taken away. We asked how can we pay for things that we didn’t like or ate or even substituted and they said it was their policy. That everything was in fresh today and it wasn’t their problem. I told them that I take on full responsibility of paying for the octopus even tho I didn’t eat it but I’ll take it to go( my intentions were to give it to a homeless person who might find it to their liking) they said that their chef had to taste our foods and then she proceed to bring it back to me so I can pack it. My son’s gf asked them to taste the bruschetta since her and I shared one and they refused. She said her meal tasted spoiled and they didn’t wanna do anything about it. It wasn’t until they were challenged about not offering another dish and to take our food away to be “taste tested” and hat someone else came to our table to rectify the issue. The initial waiter didn’t want to refund us any money even tho we were just asking for one plate to be removed. The second waiter said he’ll take off one meal and the initial waiter threw the receipt in his face and said “ then you do it” and walked off. We end up leaving everything they brought back after admitting it went for taste testing and missing for 45 mins. We were verbally attacked and made out to be wrong in the situation. I end up paying the bill out of principal but we will never visit or recommend this establishment to anyone...
Read moreI'm not sure who's giving this place such good reviews, but I doubt it's anyone who knows anything from good food. The main focus of this restaurant is their bar and the guys/friends who were sitting at it. We should have ran the other way when having to walk through a handful of bar patrons smoking right in the front door and then seeing every table in this fairly big place was empty coming on 6:00 p.m. Short and sweet, whoever is 'cooking' (probably someone's unemployable relative) took perfectly good ingredients (lobster, colossal shrimp, steak, mussels and large who shells disintegrated when picked up to eat the clams and absolutely destroyed them with a broiler to serve a dried out mess. If you've been to Portugal, you would NEVER find such a poorly prepared, badly cooked waste of what would ordinarily be delicious ingredients in the hands of Proprietors who care about what they're cooking and what they're serving for a customers money. This is not good Portuguese food by any stretch of the imagination, sadly. To add insult to injury, I specifically asked if the platter NOT be overcooked and specifically that the steak should be somewhere between rare and medium. That was a waste of breath time and breath. We got shoe leather. I know the photo I put up looks pretty good, but that's when it landed and found that everything under those bright lobsters, which were also way way overcooked, was so dry and unedible that we just didn't eat it. Second, I told the server what was wrong with the dish and there were no adjustments made nor did a manager of any sort show up at the table to discuss a 75-$80 mess that we were served. We paid the check and left. Save your time and money and go to the other fairly good Portuguese place in Yonkers. I'll provide the name when I'm done writing this Lusitania https://g.co/kgs/ub8FJe
And how about that delightfully chivalrous sign on the restroom door? Check the photos. The guys at the bar can urinate right next to the bar, your wife, girlfriend or mother? She has to go down to the basement. How 19th century....
Read moreNot a great experience! I've passed there many times. This particular day, Friday evening, 1/17/20. I wanted to eat out. So this was my first time. I sat in the dining area at one table. I settled down. Then a few minutes later, was asked to move to another table because they will be setting up for a party within a few hours. I thought that was really rude! I was provided the menu. It was a bit pricey. I didn't mind. I'd hoped that the food was up to level for that price. I ordered lamb chops was informed it would come with mixed vegetables. But to my surprise the food came with stringed either some type of broccoli bush or asparagus which I dislike. The lamb was not tender, no seasoning, had to add my own after asking for it (which took awhile to get to me). The holder came to the table but the salt n pepper shakers were clogged. At the same time, very difficult to get adequte service when needed. I had to keep asking to get someone's attention. At one point, I needed more butter cases for the so called vegetables. The waitress brought it over to me in the middle of her hand directly from the refrigerator and put in a bowl which was already utilized and should have been removed from the table. Even the bread basket n it's attachments (empty butter cases and uneaten olives) were still sitting on the table even after the entree was given to me. I felt really bad that, no one cared about me. The service was quite disgusting and I will never patronize them again. Awful experience! Someone mentioned on these reviews that they were racist....
