I had a good time, good food and nice waitstaff. I only have ONE COMPLAINT! In today’s economy if i want steak and potatoes I can stay home and make it myself. When people go out they are craving an authentic experience. Let me explain further… When I walked in I was welcomed by warm Caribbean/soca/reggae artists playing throughout the restaurant… somewhere throughout dinner the vibe changed from night to day and they began playing some techno, urban pop.. (And just for context I am an Italian Colombian woman raised in East Tremont aged in New Rochelle). We want something fun, something with a heartbeat, these people have the ability to do something amazing here! Isn’t it owned by Caribbeans? Be proud of that, don’t try and fit in a box, be unique, love yourself. LOVE YOURSELF. The last thing this community needs is another average/regular/mediocre establishment. It can be both classy and fun. We can have both. I expressed my thoughts to the manager on duty she seemed really sweet about it and my intent wasn’t to hurt feelings so I hope she understood what I was trying to say. For example, Labor Day is coming up? Why aren’t you guys having a Labor Day Brunch? What music do you intend to play at brunch? Because brunches are fun! There’s hundreds of restaurants in NR just taking up space in between walls. Please be different. Please don’t be so focused on meeting societal standards that you miss the opportunity to monetize what’s in the palm of your hands.
Other feedback I have is that i wish there was some more Peruvian street food on the menu. The food is delicious, I was just expecting something a bit more creative or exotic. I thought they would have maybe some plantain chip nachos with jerk chicken and jerk shrimp, pico, or plantain tacos, Johnny cakes???? Ducana???
There was a white couple next to me, and the musical change actually got us talking to eachother. That’s where all these great ideas came from! I had help and time to think. We both felt the Caribbean restaurant not doing anything for Labor Day was a missed opportunity. Anytime one of the Caribbean Islands has an Independence Day the restaurant should celebrate that in someway. I love doing FUN brunches or outings with my children who are older, one 18 the other 24 so we need something inclusive and not boring. These are the things that keep people in the door. People will want to come because they’ll know they can only get that fun experience with you. They’ll want to share that experience with others. But sitting and eating? No. If you continue like this you’ll create yourself into a restaurant that people visit but very rarely return. The people that live close will come out of convenience, but what happens if they get bored or find a new food interest. Be good, be kind, be free, and be timeless. I hope my message was received in the same positive light it...
Read moreThe Water’s Grill is a refreshing refinement! The food is amazing, and definitely new for the area. I can see the elevated dishes giving Patsy’s a run for their money. I had an Old fashion, the Ceviche De La Casa for an Appetizer, The Hudson Prime Burger as my Main, and a bright & not overly sweet carrot cake for dessert.
Pros: The Ambience The Waitstaff’s Attentiveness Plating and Visual Dining Experience The Music is diverse, set to a tolerable, conversational volume The View of the water, does not come with the smell of the water, frequent on some other dockside restaurants. The taste of the food is Tremendous, and will leave you wanting more!
Cons: The wait time. While we understand this is a new establishment, as well as July 4th weekend, the wait time was definitely a little long. We had our appetizers, so our conversation distracted us a little from the wait. However, some other patrons complained about not getting their food for over an hour.
Weather/Outdoor Seating: A lot of seating is lost during rainy days. and we were moved once from inside to outside by our request(Thank You!) , and moved once more to get out of the rain. Our hostess took care of moving everything for us, and apologized for the inconvenience.
Wrong Orders/Mixed up tables: This may have just been us since we moved so many times, but we were brought the wrong orders at least 4-5 times during our visit,
Overall: I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an upscale introduction to fine food in New Rochelle, at competitive pricing. The Food is amazing, The ambience is great, and the Staff is so Energetic! Can’t wait to Visit again, and Congratulations...
Read moreMy date and I chose to sit outside to enjoy the view and relaxed vibe. The decor was beautiful, and the ambiance was chill and inviting. The servers were kind and friendly, which made us feel welcome.
Unfortunately, the service was a bit disorganized. It took a while for our server to greet us, and two other servers came by to take our order after it had already been placed. The menu itself was also unclear — not well-sectioned — and I had to ask where to find the appetizers.
The meals were nicely described on the menu and looked good when they arrived, but they didn’t deliver on flavor. The food was quite bland, and my boyfriend’s chicken was undercooked. The mojito tasted more like lemon water than a proper cocktail.
What stood out and helped redeem the experience was the way the manager handled our concerns. She comped the chicken dish and offered us a complimentary dessert, which was absolutely delicious — honestly, the highlight of the meal.
One unexpected downside was the noise from nearby boaters at the marina, which disrupted the otherwise serene setting.
Overall, the location and staff were lovely, but the food and drinks were disappointing and felt overpriced for the quality. With some improvements to the menu, food prep, and service coordination, it could be...
