Went at about noon on July 28 with two of my girlfriends and her baby. When we got there, It seemed like they were wrapping up the end of the rush. We waited for about 15 minutes before anybody greeted us (we were more than okay with) and come to find out, it wasn’t because they were a little bit busy but because the woman who was serving us was indeed racist and did not want to interact with my two friends and their baby. This was blatantly obvious because my two friends had been there before and knew exactly what they were having to a t, how they wanted their eggs, toast, literally everything. The server was trying to debate my friends, the entire time dismissing them and rolling her eyes every time they said something. My friends are actually extremely on point with their order, but when I messed up my order because the blatant disrespect genuinely had me flustered, she called me honey, babe, and told me that everything was all right. I was the only white woman at the table I couldn’t help but notice this so I asked to speak to the manager. When the manager came out, He truly didn’t seem to care about what my friends had experienced and cared more about the fact that this was his restaurant and really didn’t want a bad review. What he failed to realize was that everyone at this table had been working in the restaurant industry for more than 10 years and could see right through it. None of us wanted to say anything because we assumed that this was an isolated incident, but after talking to some friends, this isn’t the first time a person of color has had a bad experience with this woman. Although the owner was very nice, he didn’t take any accountability for what we had experienced and told us that there must’ve been some understanding. He did later, comp our entire bill, but we didn’t ask to come there and have our food paid for us. We just wanted the exact same experience that she would’ve provided a...

Read moreWhen you think of brunch places, I’m immediately transported back to a time where I was surrounded by good food, friends and most importantly great cocktails! Figmor delivers. I always say that you can immediately tell your experience at a restaurant or business by your first interaction when you walk in. The host, who we later found out was the owners brother was everything you want as an introduction. He was as effervescent as the bubbles in my Mimosa! We decided to have a couple drinks at the bar and Bree our bartender was friendly, charming and personable. We made our way to our seats and ordered our food which I had the 50 Shades of Green salad with Chicken and Cilantro Lime dressing (which I didn’t eat because the flavor wasn’t for me) and my friend had Country Bennys with sausage gravy and a breakfast sausage. Plus after all the drinks he consumed at the bar he ordered Mac & cheese too lol. Now, the only feedback I have and it’s why I took away a star is the knives aren’t adequate for eating. You need something that is serrated and I say this, because my chicken was quite dry and I couldn’t cut it with what looked like a smaller butter knife without tipping over my bowl. Which is what nearly happened several times over. These are easy fixes and with some tweaks this spot is a must see if you’re visiting North Tonawanda. In the warmer months there is also seating outside, which is covered will be the...
