I've got to be honest... We were from out of town, and when we pulled up to Maria's, the other people in our party were a bit skeptical. It doesn't look like much from the outside. Well, get over yourself and go in! Despite the unassuming building, what you'll find inside is excellent food, surprisingly decent prices even in this inflation-crazed economy, super friendly waitresses and fast service. Even though it was lunchtime we all opted for breakfast and was so glad we did. My eggs Florentine were delicious. Fluffy, flavorful hollandaise covered two perfectly poached eggs sitting on top of two juicy tomato slices, spinach and a nicely toasted English muffin. Eggs Benny is my go-to breakfast and so many places I've been to lately overcook the eggs so they're more like hard-boiled but not Maria's. They nailed it. Our friends had the traditional eggs Benny and another had an omelette. All were well-recieved. The hash browns on the side were pretty pedestrian; they seemed like frozen cubes of potatoes and not like homemade, and there were no onions, etc to take them to the next level, but that's a pretty minor complaint. What really was the star of the meal was the homemade cinnamon raisin toast. O. M. G. They had me at homemade but it was so much more. Thick, fluffy slices of bread were swirled with this delicious, cinnamon and sugary filling that made it more like dessert than anything else. It was almost like a cinnamon roll or sublime pastry; "bread" doesn't seem to do it justice. Two slices were so thick and generous i ended up taking one home, which i made into French toast for the next day's breakfast. I know, i know, who takes home a piece of toast!? But this was no ordinary toast. Deeelicious. Our waitress was also super nice, friendly and prompt, and made our dining experience even better. Consider Maria's a little hidden gem in the local...
Read moreWent to Maria's today. 2/16/24. Been going to this restaurant for over 3 years. Food is good, service is ok. My guest and I sat down at a table in far left side. We were not greeted or acknowledged. At the minimum 10 minutes went by. The empty table next to us was seated and immediately received menus and a greeting. I decided to go to the counter and ask for menus. I saw a menu on the counter and took it. As I was walking away, the man (owners son Joey) at the check out counter said in a loud voice, demanding that I return the menu. I turned around and brought the menu back . He told me to return to my table and someone would bring me a menu. I mentioned that I had been waiting 10 minutes and please give me a menu. He said if I didn't like the service he would come around the counter and throw me out. The man said he was the owner and to get out and started yelling and threatening me. He then came out from the counter and raised his fist and threatened me again. His mother Maria stepped between us and made him go back behind the counter. This is what happens when you promote the dishwasher to cashier/manager because they are family. Bad for business all the way around. Maria has done a great job with her restaurant and this guy is well on the way to ruining her good reputation. Can't recommend going to Maria's when this person is working. Under these conditions maybe skip them entirely.
One more thing, I am a senior. Don't think this employee was even...
Read moreMy family and I absolutely love Maria's. This data I ordered the Italian omelet with homefries and raisin toast. I absolutely lo ed the homefries, they were cooked to perfection. They were golden to dark brown in color. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. My daughter could not stop asking me for my homefries. The omelet was cooked to perfection but I just did not like the type of omelet. My oldest daughter usually orders that particular omelet and she raved about so much that I decided to try it. Obviously, we have totally different taste buds because I did not like ham and pepperoni in my omelet. I also had an order of raisin toast the first order that came out m, was greasy. They usually toast the toast on the grill. This time the butter drenched the bread and the back of the toast was so wet that the bread was soggy. I sent it back and asked that they grilled my toast dry. The second order of raisin toast was excellent. The raisin toast is one of my favorite things to order there The atmosphere is very homey and I absolutely love the restaurants history that is displayed on a wall in the restaurant. I also love reading all of the positive quotes that is displayed throughout the restaurant while I wait for my food. Normally, I would have given this restaurant 5 stars because of the friendly staff, clean bathroom, positive quotes, great food, family and restaurant history that is displayed...
