Where should I start...I guess I'll start by saying, my 3 star rating is based on the food and not the restaurant itself. I would give the establishment at least 4 stars. Upon walking in I was greeted right away and asked if I was dining -in or ordering to-go.I stated that I was dining in with my friend. We were told to pick whichever table we wanted that had 2 chairs. We sat, the environment was very simple. The wall had a nice mural of a Spanish woman wearing traditional colors. Very nice art decor style lighting, dim not too bright. The tables were simple tables, simple chairs, I may say the chairs were slightly uncomfortable after sitting on them for 40 minutes or so, but I take it this is not the type of place you dine in for longer than that time frame anyways. The server is also the person who cashes people out, so she was back and forth between several tables and cashing out others whom were picking up their food and handing orders to delivery drivers as well. There was other servers or workers there who helped bring food and drinks to tables as well. The tables were not 6 feet apart though, well most of them at least. I ordered the famous Birria Tacos, as they come, did not substitute nor remove any of the items that come on it or in it. It took about 20-25 minutes to receive our order.
The Birria tacos were plated beautifully on these meal trays almost like the ones you would be served on at Buffalo Wild Wings. 3 tacos are laid against each other, one is inside the consume(soup) in double layered soft corn tortillas, one side has grilled cheese on it, the other side is soft, sort of falling apart, topped with fresh cilantro and diced white onion. I was under the impression there would be cheese inside the tacos, these however these did not have cheese inside. The consume(soup) was a beautiful deep red color with tint of orange color as well. It had pieces and bits of beef floating in it as well as diced white onion and cilantro floating around inside as well. My first bite I have to say was amazing.. the flavors were so different, never had it before so I was unaware of what to expect but it was a nice first bite. Upon taking a second bite I start to notice the lack of seasonings. The tacos had a very mellow flavor to them, basically tasted of beef and onion and tortilla.. I did not really taste any salt, or pepper, or anything for that matter. It was very lacking and the tables do not have condiments such as salt, pepper, etc. I am sure due to covid risks they cannot have condiments at tables. Aside from the lack of flavor which in itself was very disappointing, they were not too bad. I expected more of an explosion of flavor considering it is Spanish food, Mexican especially and the culture is known for having amazing seasonings and flavors to their foods. For dessert I ordered the Churros. This is where the establishment got my respect, these churros are stuffed with what tasted of a sweet cream, deep fried, rolled inside of cinnamon sugar and plated with a hefty portion. I believe 6 pieces, 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, with what i believe is a type of nut or seed, drizzle of chocolate sauce and strawberry puree. This was delicious and very sweet, filling, and shareable
So to conclude, if you are not a big fan of seasonings and want a mellow seasoned taco to fill your belly, this is the place to go. If you have a big sweet tooth this is the place for you. Please try for yourself, my review is based off my experience and taste buds. See for yourself maybe you'll like it. The price for the Birria tacos(4) was $16, the Churro dessert was (6) $8 Overall for 2 people, both birria taco meals and both churro desserts we spent a total of $49. Pricey and not really worth it for the price but the experience to try a trending...
Read moreI had heard the food here was really good, so I finally took the fam there on a snowy Wednesday evening. Wasn't too hard to find park nearby as there are plenty of side streets adjacent.
Now, the food was really tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by their menu and options. It isn't a super extensive menu, but it contained a lot of solid offerings. We started by sharing a plate of Birria Nachos, which were very well executed. Probably could have used a few more chips, but having more Birria than chips is a great problem to have. Two people at the table had a burrito bowl that was plentiful and they said was delicious. My dad had the asada gorditas, which aren't what you'd expect if you've only heard that word at Taco Bell. They were fat, crispy deep-fried thick tortillas flat on the plate topped with tender asada chunks and various other toppings. He loved his meal as well. I did the mix and match tacos with al pastor, asada, and lengua. The lengua!!!! Holy crap!!! Don't be scared about eating tongue. It was the best thing I ate all night. The tacos were all generously topped with meat and differing toppings based on the meat selection. My only tiny complaint about it was that it was just three tacos. I had to order rice and beans as it wasn't part of the meal like you may find at other places. But, the rice and the refried beans were great, so there's that.
Ok... to the negatives, and there weren't many. We made reservations and somehow still got stuck next to a pretty cold window at the front of the restaurant. I left my hat and hoodie on and it was fine. I can excuse that with their delicious food being served. The only other negative was the service. It wasn't super packed, but there is minimal staff, at least on a wednesday. Our waitress would leave and not come back for far too long when there are refills needed, additional requests for napkins, drinks and sauces, etc... Not a huge deal though. She was pleasant when she was around and I'm pretty patient. I will say that we opted not to do dessert because of how long it took to get everything, including the check. But, I will 100% be going back there for food, but I will likely just get take out. Go support them... and...

I took my Mexican food crazed kids with me for a end of the school year lunch treat. My son who is constantly trying to make his own horchata ordered the mole enchiladas with al pastor. Daughter ordered the battered fried fish tacos. I had the al pastor torta. Both kids ordered the large horchata which was definitely larger than a pint. I had the large jicama aqua Fresca. Delightfully tart and refreshing.
Everything was well above expectations. The torta was amazing. The bread was grilled for a crisp crunch inside and soft with a tender crust on the outside. The al pastor was deliciously grilled with just the right amount of bite and char and the occasional bite of pineapple. The sandwich was gorgeously dressed with shredded white cheese and delicately crunchy veg. Basically they got everything right.
The enchiladas came four to the plate, gorgeously presented with thin sliced radish and onion and I think cabbage. The mole sauce was so full of flavor with a full body earthyness of cacao. It was a perfect balance of tang from the radish, the meaty al pastor with the pineapple and the deep rich mole. Another huge hit. It was a dish that was hard to stop eating once you started.
The fish tacos were just as beautifully plated coming four to an order. The tortilla were extremely high quality. Soft and tender with just the right amount of chew. The fish was a mild white fish perfectly fried with a light crunchy exterior and tender, flaky interior. They were dressed with a Verde sauce which had a beautiful balance of tart, creamy, and a bit spicy. Just a gorgeous presentation. Everything was insta worthy.
The interior of the restaurant was dressed just as well. The walls had been treated with hand panted artwork with the main wall featuring an amazingly lifelike portrait of Frida Kahlo. Tables were spaced well with a light and airy festival atmosphere with papel picado dressing the ceiling.
I'm so pleased to have finally found this restaurant and can't wait to return. Not often do you find a casual restaurant that gets so many things spot on, more so an eatery featuring Latin cuisine in Monroe county that is delicious and...
