I can't say enough good things about this place! I've been a regular here since they opened in 2020 and I am always impressed! The menu board offers assistance in figuring out how to order the perfect chai (I personally recommend making it a super!) and the staff are always friendly and eager to help as well.
The seasonal drinks are always a delight - the apple chaider in the fall and lemon chai in the summer are my faves! For those who love eggnog, don't miss out on their winter special, either!
The Chai Guy offers the only real and true source of authentic chai in Rochester - you should talk to the owner sometime about his time abroad learning how to make the perfect blend! Their collaboration with other local businesses for pairing the perfect baked good with your chai is the icing on top! I am a huge fan of having a chai cookie with my chai drink, but you can't go wrong with the muffins, danishes, and cronuts either.
The cafe space is pretty small inside, offering only a few tables, but it feels extra cozy in the winter. Limited outdoor seating is available as well.
Be aware that they currently only offer one size for drinks, but they will allow you to sample a drink...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I made a special pilgrimage to Rochester, specifically to visit The Chai Guy. During the 1930s, what is now The Chai Guy (a most lovely place), was a bakery named Frances's Kitchens--my grandfather was its proprietor and the bakery was named for his sister Frances. I do believe they were there into the early 1960s (my grandfather died in 1934 so it was left to his sisters and my grandmother to run things!) Visiting The Chai Guy was such a moving experience! I know my grandfather (pictured below), who, unfortunately, I never met, would be so happy to see the family bakery flourishing as The Chai Guy on beautiful Park Avenue. Such a cozy, bright, happy place to stop for a delicious cup of coffee or chai (the cookies were excellent! And I am, right now, drinking from The Chai Guy thermos!). I left my grandfather's picture (and obituary) with Noelle the morning we visited. She was so kind! We wish a happy, prosperous future to The Chai Guy family. God bless you all! --Ellen...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was me and my daughters first time here, and we were impressed! When we got there, there was a sign in the door that they had to close early. As we stood there in disappointment a gentleman came to the door and apologized for having to close early, when he learned this was our first time and we made the trip across town just to try it out...he opened the door and said come on in with a smile...talk about customer service and I'm big on getting good customer service!! He told us that he was leaving for a an appointment with the chiropractor so he had to close early. The Chai Guy, I later learned was Pat the owner, took the time to explain everything and we are so glad we tried it out. It was simply delicious!! We had the Classic Chai with vanilla. We are looking forward to our next experience at the Chai Guy. We also saw him at the Rochester Public Market. Thanks Pat for a great first time experience at the Chai Guy. I will definitely be suggesting this place to my...
