I remember this place 35 y ago and it was a very charming little grocery and had coffee and food also....it is now just a cafeteria style deli type place with the feel and prices you would find in Tribeca....the food has a pre-made look and feel and not sure if it's shipped in or made there...but in my opinion the food is so so and mediocre...and don't complain or ask for an extra condiment etc...they look at you like ...how dare you!!...we'll when you pay 17d for a take out breakfast sandwich... a coffee and a juice you would expect to be treated w accomodation...nope its 2025 and I guess a thing of the past..they just give you that lost gen z look when they arent looking at their phones...and I am doubting their claim to making the food there as they won't substitute anything...or it's all premeasured and they have nothing else to work with idk But its very expensive for what you get ....it's more like a brand or a style of a type that goes there not about the substance of the place...not impressed at all and nothing screams for me to go back...6.5 for a croissant..the placid baker in troy is the real deal and 5 d ...same type of menu but made there and a real bakery/cafe....so yeah ...just a money grab for whomever owns it...with some extremely expensive kitchen things for sale also. So yeah...bleh...left me feeling overcharged and not cared about...
Read moreI did not dine in or take out, I simply left. Very discouraging rude service (which is what I had heard from other friends), not helpful, no understanding about the gluten free offerings (I simply asked if the quinoa salad was fully gluten free - a blank stare was all I got). Overcrowded, (they use more space for selling stuff than for seating) mostly people sitting on laptops not engaged in conversation. What a waste of time. Touted as such a trendy place, with local atmosphere, however they seem to be more interested in charging high prices to distinguish themselves as unique and important. And I have to ask, what limited kind of coffee place does not serve decaf espresso? It's not really too much to ask for. People drink decaf, people don't need caffeine all the time. Decaf coffee is typically awful, and espresso is a preferred drink for many coffee drinkers. Having a decaf Americano available is simply common courtesy at this point.
I've known about Arthur's and lived in Schenectady all of my life. This was my first time visiting, I won't come again.
Ps, right over the bridge in Scotia is a lovely coffee shop, I won't mention it by name to be polite but it's easy to find, right on route 5, and they actually have decaf and many other...
Read moreArthur's has arguably some of the best coffee in town! Consistently open at 7 am, know that you can walk up to the window of this market solo or with pooch by your side to place an oder to go.
There are tables to sit out front where you can watch residents of the Stockade pass by or perhaps you want to dine at their back patio which gives a "secret garden" feel.
When you go, budget for time. Everyone who serves you is genuinely kind but has their unique style. Kindly put, time slows down there so don't expect quick service. It may do you well to check your order for accuracy.
The unique flavors of their fresh and frozen dishes are top notch. Be sure to pair your food with any of their unique beverages on hand from seltzer, kombuchas, or other.
Great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts - Arthur's food is an excellent choice when you can't cook that evening.
Oh, their gift shop items and variety of dairy products from Battenkill are worth checking out when you need last minute gifts for upscale giving and creative dining ideas.
Work and family friendly. You can sit in peace on your laptop or enjoy a cookie with your kid. It's quiet and peaceful.
Well...
